Help. I have bought a new puter with a DVD burner but cannot figure out how to rip DVD's to the hard drive. I have software that allows for DVD's to be made from external sources such as a digital camera or digital video cam. The problem is I can not figure out how to copy a DVD to my hard drive so I can make a copy of it. Any help would be appreciated. My e-mail is fenderstrat72@hotmail.com if posting hear is a problem.

if it's a DVD that YOU made, you should be able to do it with the burnware you already have.

If it's a commercial DVD like say a movie, then that's illeagle, so you would need this software www.dvdxcopy.com get it while you can folks.

Boomer, Thanks for the info. Man that program costs another $100.00 and after I just spent nearly 2 grand on this thing i guess i will wait.
Goose I got an HP with LCD screen, 2.53ghz P4, 80gb hard drive, 512mb SDRAM, MX420 graphics card with TV-out, DVD/CD combo writer, with a second cd-rom. What does that mean? I can't say but if i could copy dvd's i would be happy.

I'm definately not a puter expert but I would recomend ALL the RAM you can get 512mb for windows ME but I dont know bout Xp, and spring for the 19 inch display if you can , that's what I have and I love it. I know somebody will know more than that. OH get a DVD that can burn ALL the different formats , there are like 5 or 6 of them LOL

alphabet soup time LOL. the DVD formats that I know of are DVD-RAM(which is a cartidge kinda like a ZIP disk) DVD+RW,DVD-RW,DVD+R,DVD-R,the only burner I know of that handles all the formats (except DVD-RAM) is the Sony DRU-500A, the PanasonicLF-D521 handles many formats too but not as many, and both will handle the normal CD formats (R and RW) some units can also handle the DVD-RAM discs but you have to take the DVD-RAM disc out of it's protective cartridge first to insert it into the CD tray. hope this helps some Goose
