Vague is my description as well.

HEAT's were only effective while sabot's were "Devastating".
Wait till they get a load of the OR (Cross your fingers, I <i>might</i> be working on that project in Piccatinny)

Two mavericks to destroy it? I'm not surprised.
I did like seeing those two little holes from the 2 mavericks The hull was in pretty good shape; it didn't vaporize like a T-72

Pretty amazing, to say the least.

I found it interesting that the Sabot made a bigger entry 'wound' than the Mavs did.

That's a good point also.

I think that the Army should adopt a "if it's not broke don't fix it policy when it comes to the Abrams/Stryker debate.

ROFL. How many RPGs could it handle? I couldn't d/l the damn Abrams report. Did read the other 2 reports in www.sftt.org

15 Abrams are going to the junkyard. Another 150 odd sustained battle damage. We lost some tracks in Iraq.

I've always liked trees..... I think I'd prefer a walk in the woods as opposed to a drive in the Stryker.

Guys can there be a balance struck between the stryker and the abrams. As I see it six months to transport and build up to war is a luxery we are not going to have consistently in the future. Could a ratio of say 1 abrams to two strykers work effectively. Allowing the heavy lift aircraft to carry on abrams per load, and the lighter lift aircraft to bring in two possibly three strykers per load.

In other words best of both worlds?

If i HAD to find a role for the Stryker it would be as an air DROPPABLE armored vehicle to give the 82d Airborne a 'heavy' bde.

Unfortunately, the Stryker is not air droppable.

BTW, during OIF a combat team of M-1's and Brads was airlifted into an austere strip in the North of Iraq. So the Heavy Bdes are not as 'immobile' as we are led to believe.

What would you rather have on the ground...the 82d Supported by a Bn level Heavy team(mix of M-1s and Brads) or a Bde of Strykers?

Give me the heavies.

If we invested into some very fast sea lift it could be cut down quite a bit. Then you have landlocked countries like Afghan and lousy roads which wouldn't support an Abrams anyway.

I know Snipe hates to see diesels in Abrams. They actually did install them for a test. Worked fine, just less top end, and a helluva of a lot less fuel flow.

They will always be searching for the right mix of heavy and light armor. They will always improve anti-tank weapons like the Russian Cornet system.

All the high tech and far out systems in the world. Don't work long without ensuring we have the best trained troops behind the gear.

Personally, i liked the M-8 Buford better.

Sure it is! In fact I recommend we air drop them all if the damn things can't even take an RPG hit.

Maybe, we can drop the Strykers ON the RPG positions? The idea has possibilties, no?
