You know Snipe I actually had to go on the website recently and verify I had done this(Background investigation came due). It had the date I did the deed. If I had not done it I wonder what the consequences would have been? I have been on active duty for 22 years yet I am sure the good ole goverment would have been PO'd. Even males that are handicapped must resgister, isn't that a little over the top?

I HAD JUST GOT TO ALEX, AND GOT A NASTY GRAM FROM THE SELECTIVE SERVICE PEOPLE SAYING I WAS GOING TO FACE "PUSHIMENT" FOR FAILURE TO SIGN UP.
I HAD JUST TURNED 22 AND BEEN IN FOR 4 YRS.
THEY SAID IT WAS MY FINAL NOTICE.I NEVER GOT A NOTICE, SO I HAD TO GO TO THE BASE POST OFFICE AND FILL IT OUT.

I 'M GOING TO LOOK FOR THAT LETTER.

Goose, go to the website and you can find out what your selective service number is and what date you filled out the card at the post office.

Snipe I find it strange your recruiter told you not to do this. The way things are now you would have to rectify this if you wanted a security clearence in the military. I am sure you had one before but since 9-11 things have gotten a littel tighter. If you check the website there may be a reward for your return. LOL<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I had a Secret clearance(needed it for Sniper School), then got a Top Secret clearance back at my unit. They both expired eons ago.

Not really too concerned with getting back in nowadays. I tried that on Sept 12th 2001 and after months of hoop jumping and red tape cutting i finally told 'em to go get bent. I couldn't believe it was such a hassle for a combat vet to get back in during a time of national emergency, but Army red tape is army red tape...and they don't cut it for no one.
I wanted back in so bad i was ready to take an Military Police MOS(they had a real need for those at the time) just to get overseas and kill badguys.

Of course the moment i got fed up and told 'em to get lost the recruiter started calling 3x a week.

Go figure.

Chad told me he could probably help get me into a Naval gig, but i didn't want in THAT bad, lol. ;)
