Yeah the last one reminds me of the Buck Tractor Pulls disaster. Four members of the 82nd parachuted in as part of a show. The wind was calm when they jumped from a hovering Chinook...but between there and the ground 30mph gusts were waiting for them.<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_8ball.gif border=0 align=middle>

My uncle was a reservist attatched to the 101st Airborne in the 70s and has some very funny stories of airdropped howitzers and jeeps not quite making it in one piece.

Reminds me of a story one my one high school teachers told me. His unit was supposed to drop into a large open field on a training mission. The aircrew missed the LZ completely and dropped them into a swamp instead.
