Some of this was already reported, but the Pentagon announced the tentative rotations today.

In Iraq:

1st Brigade, 25ID (Stryker) will replace 3rd Brigade, 2ID (Stryker) in the North AO.

42nd ID (ANRG) will replace 1ID in the North-Central AO and comprise two ARNG brigades and two UAs from the 3ID.

II MEF will replace I MEF in the West AO and comprise two Marine Regiments and 2nd Brigade, 2ID from Korea.

3ID will replace 1CAV in Baghdad and comprise two UAs from the 3ID, 3rd Brigade, 1AD , and 2 ARNG brigades.

2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain headquarters with one battalion from the 10th Mountain Division, 1/41 Infantry (MECH) from 1AD, and forces from the JRTC, plus two MEUs will replace the remnants of the 1AD and 2 LCR in the South-Central AO.

In Afghanistan, the 25ID headquarters and one of its brigades plus the Marines will be replaced by the SETAF headquarters, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and Marines.

I don't like the idea of using so many manuever ARNG brigades (I'm fine with CS/CSS, just not combat) and putting an ARNG division HQ in charge of a sector of Iraq.

I am beginning to despise Clinton and his Pentagon panty-waists more and more for cutting the Army so much in the 90s, and Rumsfeld btw has been no help by not increasing it.

The good news? They say the Generals over there are now asking the Army to send heavy units with 3/4ths of the formation equipped with their armored vehicles and tanks and only 1/4th with HMMWVs. Before they were asking for the opposite for some idiotic reason. Let the bastards face an M1 tank and take a 120mm HEAT up their fannies.

The proper term for Army National Guard is ANG.

Silly Jarhead. ;)

Thought ARNG was Army Guard while ANG is Air Guard. Could be wrong.

Haven't heard anything about the 49th Armored Division either way.
