Hello,

I saw this on a site, I don't know what I think about this. It is not my neighbourhood. Somebody knew or reconize this building?

Weird!
Is that a fake or for real?

Sent it to friend who lived in SD. I'll see what he says. If it's real, that's a warped sense of humor.

Edit: Did a little research of my own. It's real. <i>WHAT</i> it is remains to be discovered.

I think the architect HAS to explain something then...

It's possible that they never even realized what they were doing, but i doubt it.

I'm still trying to find out when those exact buildings were built (maybe someone else could help me out there), but the whole place is part of NAB Coronado (Naval Amphibious Base).

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Naval Base Coronado is the Birthplace of Naval Aviation and the largest aviation industrial complex on the west coast. Host to 23 Squadrons and 50 other Tenant Commands, Naval Base Coronado was commissioned Naval Air Station, North Island on November 8, 1917. On August 15, 1961, the station was granted official recognition as the "Birth place of Naval Aviation" by Resolution 108 of the House Armed Services committee. The Navy's first Aviator, Lt. Gene Ellyson, was trained her starting as early as 1911.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
The key there is "commissioned in 1917," but I'm still trying to find out when the buildings in question were built (numbered 321-324 on this map: <img src="http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/images/nab-coronado-map.gif" border=0>)

More info as I come across it, but I'm thinking that it was just a coincidence. It's 4 L-shaped buildings after all, not a swastika.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy that a/the architect or some naval gov't weenie didn't see that and bring it up.

I hear what you're saying, but there is an awful lot of examples of things done in jest early on in the design/copywriting stages that somebody is SURE somebody else will stop later on in the process, that sail on straight through and get built or published...

Mind you KF might be onto something, when did the swastika become a well know symbol of the Nazi party?

If this layout pre-dates the above, it's a legimate design to get most square footage of accomodation with the most external walls and no enclosed areas.

The swastika is an old symbol. Sometimes used for power or ocult. You can find it in ancient cultures as inca or African old tribes and many more. It is blacked when the Nazi's used in in the 1930's and '40's.
But still it is a strange building there in San Diego.

The original swastika rotated the opposite direction and was a symbol of good luck. The Nazi Party reversed it for it's own abuse.

The swastika is still used as a religious symbol in Korea; you can see it all over the place on road signs.

Maybe that building site has a lot of mystical signifigence? It looks a lot like occult based t.v., movies, and cartoons as the place some horrible demon is summoned or the end of the world is kick started...

Oh so that's not a swastika shaped building to mark the location where Hitler shall be resureccted and fullfill his dream of conquering the earth? (<img src=newicons/Whatever_anim.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>)
