Here is one for the ice-hockey fans. Glad to see that the NHL is starting again this winter. I saw the NFL topic, but I don't follow that I only know that Amsterdam Admirals won this year the Bowl in Europe of NFL Europe League.

So what is the prognose, who has the best buy and who is gonna win?
I think the best team is Detroit Red Wings, but Philladelhia is coming. They draft the first good players. Also a favourite of mine is Toronto Maple Leafs, but I don't think they gonna make it.

Salute

YAY HOCKEY!!!! I'm glad they finally got their heads outta their asses! This season should be interesting. Will all the moves going on, Lindros to the Leafs, Hull in Phoenix, the DRAFT!! Looks good to me!

Oh Dutchy, you've never been to a hocey game until you've been to one in Hockeytown USA (Detroit). Trust me on that one. The old Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto was an experience, but Joe Louis Arena is just out of this world. Even being in Michigan during the playoffs is crazy! My wife got yelled at when we were dating (we drove up to see my parents) during the 2002 Playoffs against the Avalanche. She grew up on Arizona and wasn't familiar with the game. She asked a question at the wrong time and my family about bit her head off!! Hockey in Michigan is on the same level as High School Footbal in Texas!

Dutchy,

Good. Never, ever say you're a fan of another NHL team. You an like certain players, but not teams. Did you see Theo Fluery is going to be playing over by you?! I can't remember the team name but it was a story on www.nhl.com

Games at the old Philly Spectrum were pretty freakin' wild too.

The Flyers look REALLY strong with the addition of Forsberg and Hatcher, but i have doubts about Esche.

In the NHL, it's all about the goaler, and well, the flyers havn't had a true top echelon goaler since Hextall(before he was traded).

Weasel,

I noticed it about Fluery. I have a question. Is Carl Dijkhuis playing by the Montreal Canadians or are the rumours correct that he is going again to Europe (Italy)? I thought he is back from Amsterdam Bulldogs (I saw him playing against Heerenveen and get an autograph) to Montreal after the lock-out.
And Zabrus is still playing by Washington Capitols? He was in mine country for an World Championship in the B catagorie were mine country is also in to. I saw him there and he is good.

It is gonna be an intresting season, after the lock-out and players pay is the Hockeyworld changed, I think.

So Basically the Flyers haven't had a netminder since '89! Hextall sucked. So he scored 3 goals. Big deal. And Hatcher might help out if he gets the sand out of his pu#$&!!

I'd rely on your gut more OE.

Dutchy, I'll check on those players. With the rosters being shaken up after the lockout, it's hard to tell who's on what team right now. September 19th is the preseason opener for the Wings!

Dutchy,

It looks like Carl Dijkhuis is NOT on the Habs roster for this year (doesn't mean he isn't a free agent looking for another team though). Did you mean Dainius Zubrus? He is still playing with the Caps.

Yes I meant Danius Zubrus.

Maybe the rumours are right and is Carl D. playing next season in Italy.

Thanks for the information.

Ex-NHL player Larry 'Sach' Sacharuk is gonna coaching a Dutch team (Nijmegen). He is 52 years old and played 151 games by NY Rangers and St. Louis Bleus.

Salute

Not a problem Dutchy.

Here's the story on Fleury playing in Belfast from nhl.com

Former NHL star Theo Fleury signs with Belfast Giants on Tuesday

BELFAST (CP) - Theo Fleury joined the Belfast Giants in what the team was touting as one of the biggest signings in British hockey history.

The former Calgary Flames star had been waiting for a British work permit, and finally got the green light to play for Belfast on Tuesday.

"This is the biggest ever signing for the Belfast Giants and indeed the Elite League," Giants coach Ed Courtenay said on the team's website. "Having scored over 1,000 points in as many NHL games, we know Theo will be a huge boost for the sport of ice hockey in the U.K.

"I am really looking forward to coaching Theo. . . "

Courtenay added that Fleury is the only Olympic gold medallist in any sport to play and train in Northern Ireland.

The five-foot-six Fleury won gold with Canada at the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. He wasn't invited to the recent camp for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

"Fleury is an international ice hockey legend and he will bring a new dimension to the sport of ice hockey here in Belfast," said Courtenay.

Fleury played with the Horse Lake Thunder of the Alberta Senior Hockey League last season, leading the team to the semifinals at the Allan Cup, the Canadian senior league championship.

He was under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks the previous season, but didn't play a single game because he was suspended by the NHL for violating the league's substance abuse program.

Fleury is a native of Russell, Man., and had 1,088 points (455 goals, 633 assists) in 1,084 career NHL games.

He signed with Belfast because of his friendship with new investor Jim Yaworski, "who has mentored him through a tough patch in his career overcoming alcoholism and Chrohn's disease," the website said.

"Theo is an outstandingly talented hockey player who just loves to play," Yaworksi said. "I have asked him to come to Belfast to play for the Giants and become a hero in a new town."

You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!"
