There's a moral here, take from it what you will.

A former tenant of mine got bagged for DUI this summer and ended up, among other things, having to do 200 hours community service. Last night, while on his way home from doing his community service at the hospital he got T-boned at an intersection by a drunk driver. I'm almost embarassed to admit I laughed after finding out that other than some bumps, bruises and a mild conconcussion, he's okay but I did make certain to point out the irony. Oddly enough, he saw no humor in it.

The story gets better. The driver who T-boned him was already under suspension for DUI and driving without a license which means he had no insurance. My former tenant had been dropped by his insurance company a week after pleading guilty to DUI. Since this was his second offense, he's had no luck finding any insurance company that'll insure him for a rate he can afford so rather than violate his probation, he elected to chance driving without..bad move. Now he sits with his Grand Cherokee totaled and owing a huge chunk of change (five figures to the left of the decimal) on it.
