Best deals are usually through Disney World. They offer pacakages starting at around a grand and go up from there. I'd go to their website and click on \"packages\", see if there's anything there that looks interesting to you.

If you elect to stay at one of the off park hotels, almost all offer shuttle service to and from the airport at no charge.
Since you haven't been there in a dozen years, you'll be amazed at the changes, not only at Disney World but around the whole area.
Keep in mind there's other things besides Disney including downtown Orlando which has taken advantage of the touristy (is that a word?) nature of the business.
When you go to the park, hit the popular attractions first before the lines start to form. Don't be too concerned if a particular ride has what seems to be a really long line. Disney World has mastered the art of moving people, you'll find the lines move fast.
Food is expensive..go figure. Not much more to say about that.
Early fall is probably the ideal time to go, just try not to hit any school vacation periods and you'll do fine.
If you need someone to carry your bags, I should be wrapped up with the current site by the so I'll be available.
