Firepower was considerably less powerful, Red Rider BB Gun. But while being used by my brother. He picked off a bird perched on the top of my Grandmothers Chimney. (It's carcass?) then fell down inside the chimney and landed in the middle of some burning logs & embers.

LOL 44, a birds leg tendons are arranged so that when there's weight on them the little feet automatically clamp down, that's how they can sleep on a perch at night LOLOL. My arch enemy is the Brown Headed Cowbird (they lay thier eggs in other nests, and the babies push the other birds out of the nest sometimes BEFORE the other babies are even hatched!!). but when they're courting the males always flock around the femmes so kill a femme and the males go nutz and fly down to see why she's actin weird, fip fip fip fip fip dead Cowbirds LOL. ALWAYS use field points (lead pellets with a lead point on the buissness end) for varmints, they'll kill most anything including the perfect keel over kill of a full grown rabbit if at less than 20 yards or so and a good head shot, otherwise go for the lungs, easy to hit and almost always leathle up to about 50 yards if you got around a 700fps muzzle vel.

I once shot a Cowbird at about 20 yds with my .22, got him face on just below the head. He DIDNT move!!!I'm like WTF! I went out (it was sitting on the bird bath) and when I got there I saw the entire back half of the bird was gone, just the feet and an empty carcass inside!!

Boomer,

I've been there... LOL

You whack something good and proper. But it doesn't even twitch. So the whack it again and again. Then you walk up to it and find out the first shot switched it's light off and you've been pumping lead into a stiff...

For larger (well by British standards anyway) birds, pigeons, crows and stuff I use RWS Super Points because they seem to penetrate the feathers better.

For anything furry I use RWS Super Hollow Points as they seem to cause massive damage to any internals, like you said, the lungs.

Who makes the pellets you talk about, or is Field Point the name of the brand?

I use Daisy, but you get the idea, at 710 fps they'll go like halfway through a 2 inch telephone book as I recall. The pointed tip helps retain velocity and adds a little "throw weight" and expands more on contact.

and this has nothing to do with anything we're talking about LOL

Dude....your posts man.

You remind me of flounder in Animal House, when Eric Stratton took them to the U. To pick up Fawn Lebawich's sorority sisters...(you know when he read about her in the obituary)

Boomer,

#1, That Browning TShirt, yep you're right it's got sweet FA to do with what we're talking about, but Hell, it's got everything to do with what I'm THINKING about LOL...

#2, I've never seen Animal House, but I'm going to get it now.

You are such a bad influence... Keep going fella...

Thread Tangent Alert

Now that movies are open topic, American Pie 2 cracks me up. The bit where Jim super glues his hand to his p**ck cracked me up, and then to get a porn vid stuck to the other one ...

But the scene with the two 'maybe' lesbians goading the lads on and Stifler's offer to 'Take one for the team' was too much

It's become the office chant for when somebody is needed as a fallguy for our latest project FUBAR.
