Goose,

My old man ended up with two .45 Tommy Guns in WWII. He got the second one by swapping a bottle of booze for it!

He said he liked them a lot.

He told me he once tried shooting some pigeons off a roof with them, one in each hand, mafia style.

He missed the pigeons, but kinda made a mess of the barn roof...

This story might explain that my slight insanity is a genetic thing.

As the Germans retreated they sometimes left behind spiked food and alcohol hoping that the Allied troops would get slightly more than a dicky tummy.

Anyway my Dad's Polish (so's my mum, gee so I guess I am as well <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>) and could drink pretty much anything. So he would collect everything, drink some of it and then 'trade' the rest...

This explains how he ended up with two .45s and yet literally couldn't hit a barn with them.

His refusal to drop a lit cigarette whilst wandering around at night near Monte Casino also meant he once came under sustained heavy cal machine gun fire.

Unfortunately his two mates who were with him weren't very impressed.

That's why I've always laughed at the quote "Never draw fire, it irritates those around you"...

When you are in the field it is VERY important to keep the M-16's integral dust cover closed.

That's why it's there.

well if they do replace it they could always use the m4 or the car-15 as a replacement

The M-4/Car15 are just a shortened version of the M-16.

true, but they would be a great substitute, think about it, they have the power accuracy, well the performance of an m16 but not the weight and size making them perfect for battle.

theres a Korean (Daewoo) version of M-16 without the highline sights and the buffer is moved from the butstock to the forgrip, the butstock becoming a telescoping wireframe that slides forward.
