Guys looks like politics as usual. the mayor of kenner's father made a sweet hart deal to buy 40 properties for 10,000. Kenner suffered minor damage during katrina and has some of the highest property values pre and post katrina with shortage of house. This guy is going to make some serious money on these properties.

Sheriff Harry Lee Opens Criminal Probe Into Kenner Tax Sale

GRETNA, La. -- Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee has opened a criminal investigation into a Kenner tax sale at which the mayor's father bought all but one property because he was first in line.
Lee said you can't sell private property on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lee said his office conducts tax sales as auctions, with buyers bidding against one another on percentages of property ownership.
Kenner Mayor Phil Capitano defended the city's first-in-line method, said that it has been in place for 20 years and that Kenner's computer system isn't set up to run auctions.
Capitano's father, Philip Capitano Jr., bought 40 properties at Tuesday's tax sale for about $10,000.
Lee said he usually steers clear of Kenner law enforcement issues unless asked, but got involved because of the bad blood between Capitano and Kenner Police Chief Nick Congemi.
Capitano defeated Congemi in a bitter battle for mayor in March 2004.
Lee said he's also investigating whether Kenner is breaking state law by waiting too long before holding tax sales. The sheriff said he doesn't know whether the law is the same for sales held by the parish.
