The sign of a true prophet is someone who is correct 100% of the time. It's hard for me to believe that she's become rich by guessing, and often wrongly at that.

Allot of people have a misconception about Doctrine. Most people are blinded by the mechanical design of a church and they lose faith in the gospel, due to what was created and administered by a church.

Too bad that knuckleheads like this are a lesson to us all. Some have to stumble down a path of apostacy before they wake up, and others unfortunately never do. That is the gift of free agency. The power to mess your life up or to get it back on track.

Their is a Chapter in John (bible) that gives a very simple answer to all this. If people would just humble themselves and get a little knee time in. Their confusion would be cleared up.

Yeah, Thug, I agree. I was reading once that Billy Graham shared the gospel with Ms. Browne and she rejected it saying that she knew her gift was "from God". BTW, God's prophets were ALWAYS right when speaking from God ("Thus sayeth the Lord") Like I said earlier, the sign of prophecy is that they are right 100% of the timewhen spealing from God. If they're wrong even once they are a farce. BTW, it's my belief that since NT times there are no more prophets and havn't been since John the Baptist...

I hope that is not true. And I Disagree that judgement of perfection determines wether one is a prophet or not. If that is the case then the whole process of god's plan has slipped off the planet.(that would not be cool) A prophet is not God. That person is of flesh and only a vessel of gods message. Therefore he is not perfect

Again it all comes down to the mechanical design. Sometimes the best lesson can be found in failings or examples.

No Man is perfect. Even in the application of Gods Wish's, This is why we maintain Churches. To insure that the process continues and doesnt slip off the planet. This was a Commandment of God.

If we cant accept this, then it makes it difficult for others to find their way back. Then their would be no point to missionaries. This really falls into a selfish pride issue. (Example=My opinion outweighs truth)

I don't for a second believe that we have been forgotten.

Things happen during a Churches Ministry that from time to time fail. Or dishonor has taken place. For Example =In the current age. We see what has taken place with certain individual Catholic preists concerning the abuse of Children by gay activites. We see what has happened with the certain Islamic leaders utilising sacrifice and torture to meet their political needs. We have seen what has happen in my church (LDS) We have seen through history what happens when Kings choose to use religion to suit their political needs. This is a failure of individual men and not the failure of the gospel. Yes we hold the Church accountable for this, yes we hold Governements accountable for us. But it does not mean the Church must end. Or that the people of a faith must stop applying their faith. (this is where the devil attempts to blind us and lead us astray).

I am LDS, and yet I can respect the good that other church's bring to this world. John was a very inspiring and honorable prophet. But I cant base my faith on the stature of a Person, or the stature of a given church. That person-Prophet is passing on a message. It is up to me to listen, and decide if I wish to apply it in my life.

A belief In christ is not all one needs. A belief in a Prophet is not all one Needs, A belief in a Church is not all one needs.

Life is a lesson. Some people grasp the message better than others. Their is allot of opinions out there, allot of Governements we can choose to live under.

Not one of them is perfect. I am personally thankfull of a choice made by a 15 year old boy. It has made a signifigant impact in my life. I'm also thankful for the country I live in that allows me to peacefully assemble before my God.

Free Agency is the prime root of all of this confusion in the world.

Wickedness was never happiness

I agree with the 3 post above, but folks like Pat Robertson are just as bad as Brown saying the stuff he say's anymore.

Remember the Oral Roberts thing in the 80's
"If I dont raise $10,000,000.00 God's going to take me Home"
I'm sorry,I'd be telling folks "Keep your money I want to go home!"
I had a bumper sticker "KEEP YOUR MONEY,send Oral HOME!"<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

What makes this country great is everyone has a CHOICE to believe their own way or not believe its your Choice.

We might disagree but its not my Job to Judge anyone's choice.

But Brown,Edwards and the rest of those "SHAM" ARTISIT are just that
FAKES!

Just like Miss CLEO, she couldnt see the FEDS coming to get her?<img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

I should have expounded more greatly, I agree, there is no perfect person (except Christ), but when a prophet said "thus sayeth the Lord" he had to be right every time or he was not a true prophet, as God is incapable of lying.

Pat Robertson comes across as an idiot...I wish he'd shut his mouth on occasion. Was Katrina God's wrath? Did God take out Sharon? Maybe, that's quite possible (God did that on occasion in the OT), but my problem with Robertson is that he cann't judge whether that's the case or not. It's very arrogant to come out and levy that judgement as the truth when there's no way of knowing that for sure. Thug, we have different practices and doctrines...I have much in disagreement with LDS mostly (doesn't it all stem from him?) to do with Joseph Smith. God bless you...

I say God bless us all. My Foundation was built on the rock of the redeemer, Jesus Christ. I am not ashamed of Joseph Smith. Or being associated to him and the LDS Church. Even he has to answer before the lord. As I must be accountable for my actions in life. If it wasnt for the LDS Church in my life, and their members I would have given up a long time ago. IF it wouldnt Have been for Jesus Christs example many would have fallen away.

I am not prejudiced. I am growing...The seed was planted and I choose to keep Nurturing it. I am happy in the company I keep, including you and your beliefs, Or my friends that are catholic. I feel no shame when I visit their churches. I'm thankful of the blessings.

The truth will reach us even if we disagree on the scenery.

Yes, I as well. I grew up Catholic and my family still is, every one of them. Initially they were very upset that I converted (Southern Baptist) but now, years later, they are very accepting of it because they've seen the change and resultant fruit. The bottom-line is faith in Christ, and that alone. I have many LDS friends, great folks, every one of them too. My main problem is that issue of God as once having been a man and that if they try hard enough on earth they can become Gods as well. Didn'y God destroy Babylon for aspiring to Godhood?

The interesting thing about 2 Chron 7:14 is that it is addressed to God's people, not to anyone else. It reminds me that as a people of God (the church, that is, and I mean the whole family of the faith, not just Baptists) we are often prone to failure when we take our eyes off Him.

This is not LDS doctrine. Never has been. I have never heard it refered to in this way. We are all children of God, My understanding is that if we keep the commandments that we will be exalted to his kingdom on the final days of judgement. To be in his presence. Wisdom does not make one a God, nor has it ever been spelled out that we would become gods. Becoming christlike is a metaphor. (living and carrying ourselves before the lord with his teachings an commandments) It is a representation of his way of life, Not of becoming a deity. We are being asked to live by Jesus's example, and to become an example to others.

We should talk about this some more. Send me an email.

Hey, Thug, I'll send you an e-mail.

Joseph Smith:

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens...I say, if you were to see him to-day, you would see him like a man in form -- like yourselves, in all the person, image, and very form as a man....it is necessary that we should understand the character and being of God, and how he came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity, I will refute that idea, and will take away and do away the veil, so that you may see....and that he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ himself did." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 3)
