No, the little ball is to assist the driver so he doesn't bang into anything, being that the visibility is cut back due to all the armor.

You seem to have missed why the vehicle has it's doors wide open and is empty of other IDF guys in dorky bike helmets.

BR seems to be sweeping the inside of the cabin with his AR-15...
