IT'S THE HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY SALE! save 50% threw-out the store! This week "Memeorial Day" pinic specials in the Meat department,! Beer sale, buy 12 and get 6 free! Great I got a day-off to go to the beach or to one of the theme parks! I can get sometime to do work around the house. "Hey , Why aint this Damn Store open, I'm off and cant get anythiong done! Hey come over I'm BBQing lets PARTY! These are just some of the things you hear and see on the first offical "Weekend of Summer" Have we came down to one of the most "Important and Solem days" of the year for the KICK-OFF to the summer? Yes you see flags, mostly on Car dealerships, store sales, not as many at homes as you did on and after 9-11. Housing committees have ruled againts flying "The Flag" period. It violates their "Homeowners Policy" Kids cant wear "Patoriot" shirts to school anymore do to it might OFFEND someone. They dont even want to say the " Pledge of Alliegance" anymore. But The country is at War, this country has been at war before also but People forget because "It doesnt matter or effect them" You can be "PRO-WAR or Anti-WAR " but niether makes you a good American or Bad one. What you can say though is this Country the People who live here do one thing that is BAD, We tend to Forget what today is all about. Honoring those Who have "Sacrificed with their "Lives" and their Bodies too." Who have "Sacrificed " part of their life for our Great Country" Who Have Sacificed to defend our Freedom. Our Civil Liberty , Thats what this day is for, Honoring those not "Sales and Pinics" Those are fine but not until we pay respect to those who have fallen or who have sacificed for those Rights and Freedoms they cared so much for. So before taking the "Boat, car, going to a Pinic etc.... Make sure to either have a Moment of Sileance attend a ceremony Honoring these Service members. And the only thing that makes it a "Happy Memeorial Day" is enjoying the Freedoms and living in this Great Country So TO "ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL" I salute Goose They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Your right its not a day off. Because we always need to work on military holidays so civillians can see the jets fly over. "By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a peerage or Westminster Abbey !" Nelson the Immortal Memory |

Goose you are right on the money. I spent the day with some very distingushed guests. I left home at 0630hrs and headed for Summerville, SC to meet up with the PGR and the Low Country Petty Officers Assoc. at the local VFW there. We then left there and headed on to Beaufort, SC to the local VFW there. Yes the same Beaufort, Parris Island area, that cranks out brand new Marines. Meet up with some old leather necks and then headed out to the Beaufort National Cememtary for a Memorial Day tribute to the vets interred there and around the world. Finally got home after over 320 miles on the bike in less than 11 hours. I have quite a bit of photos however I will post the ones that mean so much to me and if anyone wants to see the rest I will post them later. Thank all of you who are serving now, have served at one time or has family members who have served. I make sure I pass on to my 5 yr old son how important "army guys"(soldiers in fatigues) are and today he saluted them as they went buy during the parade. http://topgunphotography.milavia.net/index.htm |

Best offer I ever heard was by the WWE. They offered to allow any serviceman who showed enough proof they were enlisted, into the live event of one of their PPV's for free. |

If you have a Golden Correl buffet around your place you can eat for "Free" on several days a year. We dont have one here but last year the Girls went and showed their IDs and ate for free. Goose that is Veterans day they do that here. We ate at Golden Corral in Beaufort, a military town, and didn't even get a discount much less a free meal. When I asked for a discount they looked at me like I was crazy. Fender "Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it." its a goofy thing I've seen a lot lately. Its apparently in the regs for order arms and for shoulder arms, that each guard can have the weapon on the "outside" of the formation. I don't let the guys in my CG do it because I think its gimpy... Edit: fixed the hackjob of a post I made earlier "One of you is gonna fall and die, and I'm not cleaning it up" Edited by - Stinger on May 31 2006 14:00 |

Snipe the best I can tell you is the Marines know better, the AF guys were a real honor guard detail, the Army knows better and the Navy guys were from the Naval Hospital there in Beaufort. A rag/tag team if you will. None the less all of these troopers did a fantastic job on a brutally hot day in SC.
