I have an HP laptop. It's really great. I have it plugged into the wall 99% of the time. Yesterday, I was using it, and everything was normal. I stepped away for a little bit, and when I came back, the screen looked darker than normal. I thought I was crazy, but a friend who was over at the tiem verified this. I was like WTF? He said hang on, mine did this once, ad he unplugged it from the wall. As soon as he unplugged it, the screen went back to its normal brightness. I checked thr battery power, and it was at about 75%. I thought OK, its dimmer b/c some of the power s goign to the batter to recharge it. But its fully charged now, and the screen is still dimmer than normal. It only brightens up when its unplugged. WTF?

Any ideas?

Check your power profile settings they may have gotten accidentally changed. They can regulate screen brightness, fan operation, hard drive shut down while idle etc. My old Toshiba has to access this control through the BIOS during start-up. And you can DEFINATLY change them for being plugged in or on battery ( that's really the whole point, to save power while on battery ).
