Not really sure if this fits anywhere, but I figured this would be a good place to check. I'm following a fun bunch of web comics, all by the same person, and there's an RPG on the forums attached to it. Much fun, if I ever decide to join in. She's also set up a wiki specificaly for the world, and looking through, it seems that someone's not quite right on thier armor.

Looking at the equivalant protection thing with the steel plate(I'm assuming they're trying to refer to rolled homogeneous or whatever the traditional armor alloy is), I'm not thinking they're quite on target with the armor. Knowing the aircraft this place is dedicated to, I'm sure we'd be able to figure out just how off they are.

Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun!

Most tactical aircraft that actually do have armor are armored to stop 23mm API in critical locations. Flat panel windscreens can be armored to stop .50 API.

This is the case for both the A-10 and the AH-64.

THing that got me most was saying that one inch was enough to stop most DU rounds. I don't think we have many DU rounds under 20mm, so I was thinking that was out. I'm just not familiar with what rolled Homogeneous can actually do at the thicknesses they mention.

Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun!
