Don't know what the blown fibre glass loft insulation is called your side of the water, but here it's know as rockwool. Don't know if any of you have worked with it, but it gets into your clothes and itches like CRAZY. I was clearing out the old stuff before replacing it with new and was determined not to get caught. Some sort of logic lead me to figure it's the fabric of the clothes that's the problem. But I can't fit into my old wetsuit and the rubber gimp suit is at the cleaners so I thought I'll try it naked except for my boxers. It doesn't work. You think it does until you put some clothes on afterwards. Now sitting here itching like crazy. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I'm a bit of a dickhead... I always wore vinyl gloves, a dust mask/respirator, goggles, and full-body cheap white paper painter's suit that I could turn inside out and throw away when I was done, followed by a cool shower to keep my pores shut to wash off all little fiberglass splinters. Only ever had issues around my wrist when I forgot to tape the cuffs to the gloves. I'm impressed, were there any fiberglass installation rules you didn't break during your adventure? Crushed under his own mental block... |

Horrido had it right. Or a Good pair of Canvas Coveralls with Jersy gloves,googles,and mask And then the Cold shower the only way. Plus you can use the Shop-Vac with the brush to get rid of the dust too. Goose I know now for a FACT that Truth is Stranger than Fiction and IT CAN ALWAYS BE WORST! |

Guys, I have to say it again, WT is the only place where you can get weapons grade insults and good advice in the same post. BTW - To clear things up I wasn't completely naked. I had on riggers gloves, boxers, sneakers and a P2 face mask. However after a rather interesting nights sleep, I'll take on all your advice for when I'm laying the new stuff. I like the paper suit idea with the cuffs taped to the gloves. Considering I'm re-building the place from the inside out, I've not injured myself too badly yet <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. More DIY installments to follow and seeing how posting pictures of 'the pad' seems to be the in thing I'll put some up. But no naked DIY shots - even if you ask nice... To be honest HP, most of them, but none were totally naked! Had a nieghbor once who peed on a fire to put it out. The fire was a small pile of brush that had Poison Ivy in it. Not a pretty picture. Hot brass on the neck and arms when working the range, and I could just imagine what it could do to various other parts of the anatomy. Saw an episode of King of the Hill where Hank Hill swam with a "Frisky" dolphin. I figured swimming naked would just egg them on. The rest, just common horse sence. "Slow is Fast - Fast is Slow" |
