Just received the "Senate and House Complete Conference on John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007" that was released today from the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services. This is a PDF file and I'd be happy to e-mail the file to anyone that's interested. If you would like to read it (19 pages) please send me an e-mail at crichard54@adelphia.net Just a couple of highlights from this $462.8 BILLION budget include:

"Reduced the A-10 Propulsion Upgrade program by $48.0 million". (sounds like they are still looking at this but don't know what the plan is or what the funding is)

Added $1.4 billion for 20 F22A Raptors

Reduced funding for KC-135 tanker replacement by $88.0 million due to schedule slips.

Included provisions that authorizes retirement of 29 KC-135E's, 10 F-117's and prohibiting the retirement of any U-2's.

my review:

its a good read. i was hoping it'll lay out where all the money is going for each branch of the military and where they are spending it, but this says how much future programs are getting more or less money.

they seem to like the C-17 and F-22, but hate the JSF, A-10, and KC-135s

That's cuz the C-17 and F-22 are 'pretty' to look at.... That's a big + in the USAF.... IMHO
