I'm down on the Antarctic Peninsula on the southern end of Anvers Island. I currently work for Raytheon Polar Services company as an IT Designer. This is my 4th trip to The Ice and my first visit to Palmer Station. I'm here to document some of the older buildings and systems so we will know whats here before we try to plan replacement systems.
As for how cold, today was bright and sunny and I was walking around station in a light jacket. Average has been around 45 or so. Today was just beautiful and warm. However, it's usually cold, teens and twenties, and windy and overcast, and in the winter can drop well below zero. It does rain here from time to time though, now that it's summer time here.
Here's more about Palmer

Tomorrow I get checked out in the Zodiacs so I can go boating and get some really good pictures.
