I'd still be stuck in grade school [tard]

http://www.accelerated-achievement.com/test.htm

Quote:

There has been much controvercy over this test. Some claim it was a test for perspective teachers, others claim that it was administered in the 7th grade and could be retaken in the 8th grade. Still others claim it was given to 8th graders only. There are those who claim this was never an authentic test. Most detractors are strong supporters of government schools and object to the test, in my estimation, because of the obvious implications which are less than complimentary to the system these educators have built.

I knew I was being short-changed. It wouldn't surprise me if this was real.

If you look at books written about that time, they have a lot more information than they do now. I was told that a pre-1910 set of encyclopedias(how many kids these days know what those are, let alone how to spell the word?) was a worthy investment, since there's so much extra information in them.

[quote]This looks like an appropriate topic to publish the A10stress theory of de-evolution (using the scientific priciples).

Stress, I had to read it about 3 times but it makes alot of sense [!]

We can watch that new game show on FOX to prove your theory.

I think we need a Topic on \"What is your Theory\" on any subject.

Now this question in the Math area is Bogus

Quote:
A wagon box is 2 ft. deep, 10 feet long, and 3 ft. wide. How many bushels of wheat will it hold?

The reason it is Bogus is that depending on the season, rainfall, type, area of the growning conditions IE Sandy, Clay, Loam, Mixture of all types, new ground never planted on, crop before, was fertilizer applied etc............
factors also include the variety of wheat such as \"Hard winter Red\" \"Yellow\" etc.... they all weigh different due to the size and shape of the kernel or seed.

All factor in on how much a bushel weighs or space it takes-up.
Bushel baskets you could argue is what their looking for but , Is their a Example? Bushel baskets come in alot of different shapes depending on the company (My back aches thinking about carrying one back and forth to the milk house  [tard]

So you cant answer the question with todays formulas .

Ok, I'm bored

Thats the reason why you want your Corn or Soybeans to weigh HEAVY , it gives you more bushels even though you could and would have less.
Thus the differences during the day Husking corn, your weight is heavier in the morning then the mid afternoon when its lighter. Towards evening its heavier again.
Thats why they test each load for moisture content .
Its all done by \"Pointy Heads\" at the Elevator.

Goose, this will drive you crazy

Bushel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
A bushel is a unit of dry volume, usually subdivided into eight local gallons in the systems of Imperial units and U.S. customary units. It is used for volumes of dry commodities, not liquids, most often in agriculture. It is abbreviated as bsh. or bu.

1 U.S. bushel = 35.23907017 litres = 8 corn/dry gallons = 9.309177489 wine/liquid gallons
1 Imperial bushel = 36.36872 litres = 8 Imperial gallons

An example of a bushel, this one is holding apples. The United States or Winchester bushel was originally defined as the volume of a cylindrical container 18½ inches in diameter and 8 inches deep (2150.420171… in³); it is now defined as 2150.42 cubic inches exactly. It is divided into eight dry gallons, which are different from the liquid gallons with which most Americans are more familiar. Nor are they the same as the Imperial gallon. There are four pecks in a bushel.[1]

Bushels are now most often used as units of mass rather than of volume. The bushels in which grains are bought and sold on commodity markets or at local grain elevators, and for reports of grain production, are all units of mass. This is done by assigning a standard weight to each commodity that is to be measured in bushels. These bushels depend on the commodities being measured; some of the more common ones are (all exact):

Oats
USA: 32 lb ≈ 14.515 kg
Canada: 34 lb ≈ 15.422 kg
Barley: 48 lb ≈ 21.772 kg
Maize (corn): 56 lb ≈ 25.401 kg
Wheat and soybeans: 60 lb ≈ 27.215 kg
Other specific values are defined (and those definitions may vary in different jurisdictions, including from state to state in the United States) for other grains, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, coal, hair, and many other commodities.

Government policy in both the United States and the United Kingdom is to phase out units such as the bushel and replace them with the metric system as used for all purposes in the rest of the world, and for all scientific and technical purposes world wide. It is therefore important to know how the bushel relates to the metric equivalent, and whether the bushels are used as units of mass or units of volume.

The name “bushel” has also been used to translate foreign units of a similar size and sometimes shared origin, like the German “Scheffel”.

They try to clarify things by saying ignore the fact that this is a dry measure of a volume using a liquid unit (huh?) and then say that the grain commodities market really uses weight anyway (not volume) and then confuses things further by mixing weight (lbs) and mass (Kg) units. I give up. Does anyone know the speed of light in furlongs per fortnight? Are there 100 degrees in a metric compass? At Lockheed, we use a metric system too, like our French [spit] cousins. Yes, it is true. We work with inches, tenths of inches, hundreths of inches and thousanths of inches. That is as metric as it gets.

400 degrees (gradians) in a metric compass, Stress. My dad has one from Sweden. The trick is to find a map that goes with it. :D

It drives EVERY FARMER CRAZY because the insurance companies figure what ever way it suits them that year if you had a loss(Hail,Flood etc..)

Thats why I laugh when they say its a \"300 BUSHEL wagon\" or so on, then I get 340 bushels in it or 280 depending on the season.

So I give up, I just get the weight ticket, flirt with the girls in the office and they usually if their in a good mood give you a \"Few extra Bushels\".
