Well, really I got here last week, but I just got internet set up in my house last night.

Details of the trip: (not that anyone really cares, but I kept track of it
nonetheless...)

The numbers:
Total miles - 4,310
Cheapest Diesel - $2.819 in New Florence, MO
Most expensive - $3.279 in Tok, AK
Total spent on fuel - $870
Best MPG - 19
Worst MPG - 14
Longest driving stretch - 27 hours nonstop - ID/MT border to Paullina IA
Joyrides taken in Humvees - 1 (and it was oh-so-fucking cool)
PB&J sandwiches eaten - 2 loaves worth

Things I learned:
-Driving ~1500lbs over your max GCVW (~11,000lbs) gives braking a very high pucker factor
-Getting stuck in traffic in Atlanta for over 4 hours and moving less than 50 miles sucks. It sucks even more when your truck does not have AC and it is unbelieveably hot outside.
-Drinking ~1.5 gallons of coffee in one night is not good for me. It makes me feel like I have a terrible hangover, my heart goes bubububububububububububu, it screws with my vision, my stomach and my balance. (I stopped counting after drinking 8 20oz coffees and cappucinos in South Dakota)

I'm still on leave, start work on Monday. Luckily we only have a few jets here too, so I can ease back into this whole \"work\" thing.

Crazy Woman is in Montana right? I remember seeing that, but the wife was sleeping and didn't get a picture. Good to hear you made it to GA safe.

I'm pretty sure Montana. It was like 600something miles of highway in Montana alone. I took I-90 from Seattle to Worthington, MN, stopped in Iowa, then took a few different interstates from Iowa to GA. (I stpped in Seattle and IA to visit friends)

That looked like \"One Hell'va trip, and 1 I would like to have done really.
Alaska look like such a Beautiful State, and Canada too up that way.

Atlanta,

Houston Tx and East St Louis were the only 3 place I drove with my pistol with round chambered, I wasn't that damn way in South Memphis , which never bothered me South Memphis Had a Great Hardee's and those Ladies saw me so much driving back and fourth from Alex to Illinois they Knew my Truck
I had a 85 Ranger in \"Bright canyon Red with a Orange flame kind of detail you couldn't miss.'

But Atlanta, I did whatever I had to to keep out of there at night, the first time I drove thru there on the Interstate I heard Gun Shots WAY TO DAMN CLOSE in the area and saw a car burning in the right lane.

Then I come home to find out on the highway to town they had a Sniper shooting people cars for several weeks before they caught him.

The 80'S were great

Jackb, if you even came close to St Louis and didn't stop by I'll be pi$$ed. Hell, I'd even buy you a 24oz cuppa joe! [lol] Nothing like a long road trip to put things into perspective. Good luck with the new assignment.

I'm going to go ahead and plead the 5th on this one. Sorry, I didn't think of who lives where in the country on my way out.
The whole way I just drove until I couldn't drive anymore, then I'd pull over to a parking lot or rest stop, lean the seat back, and sleep until I woke up. Then sit back up, stretch for a minute, and get back to driving. My left arm is way tanned compared to my right arm from all the driving.

Oh man  Thats Right you have \"2-65\" AIR conditioning , 2 windows rolled down at 65 miles per hour!

Well you better trade that Truck in Man, I lived in Louisiana 6 years with a Truck with No Air and a car too , and if I hadn't been a Line Crew Chief I would of

 XX(

The Heat is one thing but that Humidity with it is a Killer for me back then and even more now.

Hell it was 61F the other day for the High temp, and 34F for the low, low 70's for 5 days and now \"93f YESTERDAY and 90's for the next 5-7 days.

Thats Georgia weather

Ah, the ol' \"truckers' tan\"! [lol] As a kid, the neighbors always knew we'd been on vacation. Dad did most of the driving, so his left arm was more tan, and Mom's right arm was.

I went to pick up my other truck (the one with A/C) from the VPC in Atlanta this morning. I took the bus there at 5am and I'm just getting home now (11:20pm). I did make a stop at the CMP store in Anniston, AL for soem ammo though and saw Balls of Fury in the movies so I miss Atlanta traffic, but still... Longer drive than you have coming up, and after 2 weeks of nothign but driving, this felt like a leisurely Sunday drive, I only went through 2 tanks of gas hahaha.

Well,

You'll be a \"Flying Tiger\" now, I envy you on that, I loved the South,
But times change and you can never go back.
