Hey, just letting everyone know I am leaving WT permanantly. Snipe is now editing my posts to say things I ain't been saying! I can't/won't put up with his kind of mental damage. A mod or admin is supposed to be above that sort of childishness. Hope he hasn't been doing that to others but I guess we have no way of knowing.

Snipe, he has a very valid point. The whole point to these on line forums is for people to express themselves. When admins/moderators go into the text that others have posted, and change what they have said, or delete their post, then you are infringing on their rights. You are also showing how childish you can be. If it's done as a joke, then come right out and say, \"Just kidding\" and restore the post to the origional text. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't be surprised by his leaving, and making a big stink on his way out. How would you feel if someone did the same thing to one of your posts? I'd lay money that you'd be pissed as hell and screaming for blood. I don't blame him in the least for getting pissed off and telling the rest of us why. I'll also go so far as to say that if you keep screwing with people's posts in this way, this will become a very quiet site.

I've edited hundreds of posts here on WT over the years for all kinds of reasons- and it's usually in a joking manner to mess with the poster. First time anyone has made a stink over it.

Being a moderator myself at Fencecheck.com forums and Tomcatsunset forums its not always easy to deal with 'bad' posts but we only edit stuff if they contain offending material. Most of the time we use the 'count to ten rule' before even considering editting or even removing posts.

Bad posts maybe moved to the moderator only section for further review by the moderator team deciding it can stay or has to go.
Most of the time we choose to leave 'stupid' posts up making the poster look even more stupid than deleting it and send warnings.

Don't even wanna know why Boomer and M21 Sniper got upset in detail but I hope they can work it out. This forum is too beautyful and of great value to be harmed by such conflicts.

I explained why i edited the post, it is up to him to accept it and stay- accepting that it was not some viscous personal attack, or not accept it and move on.

It would be easier for us to judge who is out of line if we knew what the posts ORIGINALLY said, to see if it was that big of an issue...

but then again, I am not the judge!!

Because i was in a silly mood and felt like a laugh.

I don't have a 'job' at a-10.org, btw. I am a volunteer who has given dozens and dozens and dozens of hours of his time in the administration of this site for over 5 years now. My total earnings from WT in that time are $0.00
However, my expenses in flying accross the US, getting to know some of the 'core' WTers, and the subject matter at hand(the A-10), is close to $2000.00. That came out of my own pocket, by the way.

So please, continue to question my motives, competency, and role.

I’ve been watching this thread but, have waited until now to express my opinion. I agree with most of you, we as admins/mods should not edit post unless they violate the forum rules and the edit should be plan, simple, and in full view of all forum members. We should not edit, “because we can” or as a “joke“, that‘s just bad mojo.

Sniper, I love ya man but, IMHO you did wrong and you should make a public apology to boomer and then both of you shake hands and return to the business of having fun on this forum. This will be my one and only post on this subject (thread) and it will ultimately come down to Sniper and Pete to make the call on what happens next.

If you really want to nitpick, the thread didn't belong in the forum where it was placed to begin with, so i could have simply deleted it without a word. In fact the poster even put the fact that he was deliberately mis-posting the thread in the thread title. I suppose i should throw a fit about posters respecting the forum rules and posting threads in the proper sections.

Shrug.

I am the least of all the mods here. So I'll post once and be done. I agree with the other mods, I do however have to stop well short of ever questioning Snipers loyalty or goodwill towards members here. If he is guilty of anything, its of letting his good nature get the better of his character in a situation. Who in the fuck hasn't done that, and in an arena that has a whole lot more at stake ?
