A 45-year-old man was arrested this morning and charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of his wife Sunday night, Rapides Parish sheriff’s officials reported. Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Assistant Chief Herman Walters identified the dead woman as Kelly Yvonne Carper, 34. Ronald Ivan Carper Jr., 45, of 6008 Charles Drive, Apt. A, with an Alexandria address but located in unincorporated Rapides Parish behind Country Day School, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, Walters said. Bond has been set at $250,000, he said. The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call at 5:33 a.m. today about a problem at 6008 Charles Drive, Apt. A, a duplex located behind Country Day School near Alexandria in Rapides Parish, Walters said. Walters said the call was from a man who identified himself as Carper. Walters said Carper stated: “I have killed my wife.” Upon arrival, officers contacted Carper, who showed officers inside the house, where they found the victim's body on the sofa, Walters said. Also inside the house was a nine-month-old child asleep in the next room, Walters said. Carper was advised of his rights, arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and booked into the parish jail, Walters said. “Apparently, it was a domestic dispute between the husband and wife,” Walters said. The cause of death has yet to be determined, Walters said. “It’s hard to say right now. It appears she was maybe beaten around the head but an autopsy will have to tell us the cause of death,” Walters said. In addition to Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office, the District Attorney’s office and Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office investigated, Walters said. Also, the child is in the custody of child protective services at this time, Walters said. Walters said the incident occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday but the suspect did not report it until 5:33 a.m. today by calling 911. “I cannot answer why he waited all night,” Walters said. Goose |

Lets clear it up though \"HE was a \"WEAPONS CREW CHIEF\" not a \"Tire Kicker\"! You know, I must of done a half dozen or so \"ICT's\" with him, I usually had \"Mo\" or your crew but He was always pretty \"Cool\" . But then again who ever thought \"Sparky\"(Mikey) electrician would commit suicide??? Can never tell. Goose |
