Got a call Thursday saying I’ve got to go TDY (non-volunteer) for 30 days. So next Monday (25th) I’ll be off to Luke AFB Az. For 30 days to fix a bunch of broke airplanes they have down there. I don’t mind it to much (some time to work on my book) but, I thought I was done with involuntary TDYs when I retired in 04.

The CLSS unit here will be closing soon and “we” are taking over their tasking so I guess this will not be my last one.

Dice thats highly unusual to have a non-volunteer TDY as a civilian. I suspect you have some skills and a work ethic that they thought were essential. Usually they have enough volunteers to go on trips like that.

Not really Mark, when they put the volunteer list out it was for the “duration” of the job which could be as much as 4-5 months. Not many people want to go TDY during school starting, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years ect. I’m low man on the totem-pole for AGs for I get to go first. :(

When they did the \"Aim-9\" MODs and the \"Battery Vent\" on our Hog's that weren't done earlier .in 90 they had 2 shifts of Contractors come in and work for almost 2 months doing every Jet in the Fleet that hadn't been done yet.

I remember that because 0166 was in the Hangar when my Folks came and visited the 2nd week of July . I got a picture of My Dad in the Cockpit.
They were on the last jets by then.

They weren't too Damn happy coming to \"Alexandria\" La in the Summer.
