I'd like to welcome a few of the new members from the last couple of days:

no-i-in-threesome
free-naked-men-video
african-rape-statistics
mature-lesbian-galleries
female-ass-crack
snl-bailout
real-phone-sex

and

smartass-sayings

...hmm actually that last one might be legit and fit in around here....

But the point is this, is there NOTHING to be done about this crap and get our member list down to something reasonable and legitimet instead of say 27000 some odd members.

The forum requires admin approval for account activation, and i dont approve any accounts until i get an email from a real user asking me to do so.

The sheer volume of these spam bot 'members' is overwhelming...i used to delete them daily, but there are so many nowadays, i would spend half my life doing it.

What, no member purge feature?

Gotta do them all one at a time. It is a lengthy process when you have 12,000 of them...hell, it's a tedius and lenghty process just to do 10-12 per day.

I say lock it up. You have to be vetted by a current member in good standing to get the secret handshake and spot on the WT front porch.

There was no intent on my part to say you weren't doing what you could Snipe. I was mainly wondering if there wasn't someway the rest of us moderators could give you a hand or like 30MM says have them be vetted first.

The problem is anyone(or anything) can register. However, to post they need to be activated, which i handle for all new accounts.

I do not activate any account unless the owner sends me an email asking why he hasn't been activated from a real email address.

Yeah, I know! :P (jk!)

I admin one forum and moderate at two others (Asst Forums Manger at SimHQ.com, USAF forum moderator at Military.com, and a moderator at a Jeep forum).

Is there in your software a way to have email verification? Or can you do the funky letters in a box to register? When I get bots I usually go into the control panel and ban the email address (@whatever) unless it's something like gmail, yahoo, aol, etc. A good look in the CP you might find some cool stuff to help ease the bot stuff.

i can ban the email, but it's always a different gibberish email account every time.

And we get so damn many that it would gobble up too much of my or anyone else's time to delete every one that registers. We don't get paid, afterall. ;)

But if you other mods and admins want to tackle it, feel free.

....Meanwhile i just slashed a big gash in the side of my foot on the fire extinguisher next to my desk. Thank god for 'safety equipment.'

Please excuse me whilst i go bleed...

LOL, yeah I guess so. Not sure who you are, but I don't wear those moderator hats in other forums like here. I'm just hanging around. [banana]

Let's just say I was one of the Mods from AFEF that was part of the "Great Wifey Call Out". My s/n here is different from AFEF.
