Either the 2nd or 3rd week of October i'll be driving from San Fran to Philly, anyone along the route that wants to get together?

It would be cool to meet some Hoglets on my trek across America!!!

I don't think we go through STL at all bro.

When i did a mapquest of the route it was more through the northern states.

It'll be I-80 all the way to PA Snipe. When you cross into Wyoming from Utah, put the seat belt around the steering wheel, set the cruise control for 80 and go to sleep. You won't turn the steering wheel until you get to Laramie...about 400 miles.

Flying to San Fran next month and driving back. I want to avoid many of the states along the way, we may take the southern route, my CCW is good in every state if we do some zig zagging. I might be in STL afterall. If i was it would be near the end of October, to possibly early November.

I'm in Denver/Aurora if you're passing through. Take what Coach said about I-80 in WY with a grain of salt. True, it is pretty straight through the Red Desert area and the Great Divide Basin, but once you pass Rawlins and Elk Mt. it's a whole new ballgame. Twisty turny and steep through the passes down to Larime, and then again heading up Telegraph Hill just east of Larime. Now once you get past Cheyenne, yeah, then it's straight as an arrow across the plains. Same is true for I-70 once you get past Denver.

Aww thats quite a change from what you are use to.

So Are you bringing someone with you to alternate driving and go straight through or are you stopping at rest areas and hotels and such along the way?

Hmmmm...should do the northern route. Hawgsmoke at Boise in Oct. ;)

I've run the I-70 and I-40 routes a few times from LA to Indiana when I was stationed at George AFB. That \"last chance for gas\" sign in Utah...it's no lie...stop now! ;)

We're taking the scenic route back, gonna hit yellowstone, vegas, the grand canyon, and many other historical sites. I figure it should take us about 14 days to go from coast to coast.

It appears we're going to be taking a very circuitous route, as she and i want to see a lot of sites like Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Probably NORAD too.

Any other must see suggestions we should hit?

If you are heading to CO Springs to see NORAD, why not take a drive up to the top of Pikes Peak, it's right there and is one of only a few 14'ers, (14,000' Peaks), in CO that you can actually drive to the top of, although it is a dirt road it is well maintained thanks to the toll. The view is spectacular and keep your eye's open for Mountain Goat. They are very curious and with some patience, it's possible to get very close.

Just south west of CO Springs, is Canon City. There you'll find the Royal Gorge where they have the highest suspension bridge in the world. They also have lots of rafting companies there for white water rafting on the Arkansas River. Take hwy 115 out of the Springs, take a right onto Hwy 50, and that'll take you right into Canon City.

If you have a want for games of chance, and you like history, there's also Cripple Creek CO, west of the springs.

Now, if you're in need of some serious trigger time by the time you get to CO, you might run out East of the Springs to Dragon Man's. It's a range where you can shoot just about anything that can be shot. Once a year he holds a massive MG Shoot where they light up several old junk cars.

Up by Denver is Mt. Evans, another 14'er you can drive up, but this one is paved instead of dirt, but it's still a toll road.

I'm out in Aurora just east of Denver.
