My wife and kids went shopping last night (while I sleep) and when they returned my three year-old was very excited. After a few minutes the wife and oldest daughter when upstairs and left Nikki (my youngest 3) and I downstairs and we started talking about the shopping trip.
I asked her what did they get at the mall and she says,
“We got you some monster toys!”
Not knowing what she was talking about I asked, “What kind of monster toys sweet pea?”
With her eyes wide-open she said “you have to take the monsters to work because they scare me!”
At this point I was confused and trying to make sense of what she was talking about so I asked, “Nikki I don’t know what you are talking about, what monsters?”
She says, “You know the monsters we saw last time?”
At this point I was going to use the old parents trick of just agreeing with her and leaving it at that but decided to try one more time.
“Nikki, what monsters we saw last time?”
Well, she said, “you know the ones like this…”
And she strikes a classic air guitar pose and throws her head back and sticks her tongue out as far as she could! I just about feel out of my chair because it was the best Gene Simmons impression I have ever seen! Then she strikes another air guitar pose and sticks one arm out with one finger pointed at me and puckers her lips into the cutest pout you have ever seen…. classic Paul Stanly!
By this time I had put two and two together and was rolling in the floor laughing, you see, we (the kids and I) were walking through Spencer’s a few weeks ago and I spotted a limited edition KISS box set with figures, instruments, stage, and lighting. I thought it was pretty cool and I guess I made this clear to my oldest daughter. Not that I like KISS that much but they represent one of the happiest times in my life..and the set it cool!
So come New Year I guess I will have a KISS set on my windowsill at work to enjoy. It will be a nice change from the aircraft and aircraft stuff I have around my office now so…rock on KISS… you will fit-in my office and the A-10 Thunderbolt II world very well…you Gods of Thunder and Rock N Roll!
