Got a good. I'm just so glad to be done, I don't care that it's not excellent! But there was one adventure: We took off this morning for the check, and my departure was REALLY shaddy. And then my first maneuver was equally shaddy, and then my first approach was terrible, and all the while I'm fighting and fighting the jet and telling myself "Fly the jet, don't let the jet fly you!" So after my missed approach, the IP takes it from me and shortly thereafter discovers that the trim wasn't working very well. And as we were testing it to see what was going on, we lost it altogether. SO, long story short nothing I did was graded (whew!) and I did the whole ride over again this afternoon. Although the recovery with the broken trim was kind of dicey, because our ceiling actually was only 400' and the plane ended up full back trim.
To elaborate for the non-flyers, the trim button on the control stick actuates a tab on the elevators (up and down control) and a tab on the ailerons (roll left and right control). It takes the pressure off so you aren't pushing or pulling hard on the stick for long periods of time. With trim full back, the nose of the plane wants to shoot up. The tough part is that instrument approaches take a lot of finesse. Lots of 5* bank, 2* heading corrections, and if you are pushing or pulling on the stick while you do that, it's really really tough to get small corrections and you roll all over the place. So that's my exciting story for the week.<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
