ON FEB 12 THIS MONTH WW2 AND KOREA,NAM AND OTHER VETS ARE GOING TO GO TO PROTEST THE COURTS DECISION IN SAYING "THAT THE PROMISE OF LIFETIME CARE"REALLY WASNT.
RET.GENERAL G. DAY,M.O.H. USAF NAM IS LEADING THE CHARGE TO GET VETERANS THE BENEFITS AND MAKE THE GOV MAKE GOOD ON PROMISE'S THAT WERE MADE.
AS WE TALK OF WAR AND FUTURE CONFLICTS,
WASHINGTON HAS FAILED AND THIS PRES. ALONG WITH CONGRESS HAVE BEEN BIG PLAYERS OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS.
THE VA. HOSPITALS WERE CUT,EVEN AFTER THEIR BUDGET WASNT ENOUGH TO DO THE BARE BONES CARE.
HOSPITALS CLOSED AND LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT THE HUGE BACKLOG OF CLAIMS
475,000 CLAIMS FOR MEDICAL,BURIAL,DISABILITY BENEFITS ,PRESCRIPTIONS SO ON
THAT ARE IN EXCESS OF OVER 100 DAYS IF EVEN ADDRESSED

OF ALL THE GOVERMENT EMPLOYEES WHICH THE MILITARY IS
VETS GET SLASHED EVERYTIME WHEN SOMEONE CRIES CUT BACK!!!
BUT I THINK THEY LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF VETS THAT DIE EACH AND EVERYDAY
1200,
THATS ONE WAY OF TAKING CARE OF THE BACKLOG.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT.

I'M DONE SOAP BOXING

Goose are you going to the march? This is something that should be close to every one heart not just vets. I can only hope the goverment does the right thing and live up to it's promise. I will be retiring in the next few years and I already have High blood pressure and I am counting on the V.A. to be there for me. God only knows if it will be.

As an active duty military member I know I should do more but...I can never "find the time". I'm sure when I retire (and need the services) I will see the system from the inside and do more.

I also know that this is (maybe) the way life goes most of the time, we don't get involved until it affects us directly! Maybe also that's the circle of life, as the old get older, the middle come on board to help out, as the younger finish what they need to do... then they will replace us in due time!

BTW did that make sense?

Visit your local VA hospital and tell any vet you see thanks. Also check out this from Gen Jumper CSAF. http://www.af.mil/news/Feb2003/20403167.shtml

Here is a quote from the link.

"I strongly encourage airmen across the country to spend a few minutes visiting with our hospitalized veterans during Valentine's week," Gen. John P. Jumper said. "One of the most memorable, meaningful and fulfilling experiences you'll ever have is to meet (veterans) and hear their personal stories."

I second that one. Even us grab-astic civilian punks can be usefull and have a nice set of fangs to bear when we need to.

Done! Went to the local VFW today, asking about info on the march, left after writing "the Commander" a note asking about info on the march, following Gosse's suggestion to write Congress and voice your opinion on Retired Vets actually getting thier V.A.'s. Or if there were any other ways one could help them out.

Keep in mind, too, the the Legion is also open to current active duty members, and many posts even offer free memberships to active duty members. Great organization to support as well.

Keep in mind the power of writing, as well. My letter to the News-Gazette last month was met with a lot of good response..people tend to pay attentionw hen you take teh time to sit down and write something.
