um....shouldent somebody of his age and experiance know better about doing stuff like that? We've been on these sorts of witch hunts for many years now, he should have caught on by now. Hope it's all false and he's cleared ASAP.

You dont become a high ranking officer or in Fact an individual with a security clearance, if your family and or dependents dont have a clean background. The report did not state wether his dependent spouse maintained a security clearance. I think the public would be suprised to truly know how hard working general staff and their subordinates are. I have worked as a staff aid as well as now a civillian working for 2 retired generals and an admiral. They are no slouches and carry a high burden on their families for their service.

This is not an issue of "Madam Butterfly." This is clearly an issue of blackballing a General.

Now for the dependent spouse traveling with him on a military flight, their are several provisions and rules concerning when, and when not acceptable. You just dont move high ranking officials around by one method and then forceing the dependants to fly commercial air to join up with them, their are several national security and or terrorism risks associated to that.

Now if the couple flew to Bora Bora for a week in the sun on a Military or Govt. Jet, well then I can see a problem. Then again, we are talking about the supreme theater commander, and you would expect several security organisations working around the clock to ensure nothing happens to him or his family. That would be a severe blow to our National defense and Country.

Dunno whut the big deal is either. Sat in on some b.s.ing by Marine Grunts, doubtfull they mentioned things a civvy would normally hear. Oh there also was the time I was conversing with some guy at a bus stop. Someone in a green pickup drove past, used an off-color remark to describe me, then said "hey theres (name of an imfamous D-Boy)".
Not mentioning names, that secrets safe with me despite the insult prior to his blunder.

(I do have to say good job to the guy in the pickup...insult me then expose him)

The travel part of it is TOTAL BS, but he should KNOW better than having his wife attend briefings.

One thing to do a little pillow talk to your wife, another thing ENTRIELY to have her sitting in on briefings.

Trample the wounded- hurdle the dead.

Agree with you both Thug and Snipe. She has some clearance, but not as much as he. But it all boils down to "Need To Know".

King George II on Gen. James Wolfe: "Mad, is he? Then I wish he'd bite more of my other generals!"
