Two Abrams of the 3rd of the 7th Cavalry were knocked out by "TOW class weapons" last night. This occured during the 7th Cav's advance north under fire in the intense sand storm. The crews were unhurt. I theorize that the sand storm allowed the ATGM gunners to hide until the M-1's went by, and then fire into the rear, disabling the pack of the tank. US Officers told the embedded CNN reporter with the 7th Cav that the Iraqi's bravely charged out of the sandstorm in pickups with AK's, ATGMs, and HMGs.....right to their death. Apparently, they responded to the sound of the diesels in the Bradleys, thinking they were hitting another supply convoy. The M-1s are very quiet, and obviously provided a horrifying shock to the Iraqi irregulars. 200 dead Iraqis ensued. Shaping up to be a pretty epic battle for Baghdad. Onward to Baghdad!!! |

Fighting dirty is the only way to disable the Abrams. I wonder if they could've had it where the Bradley's trailed behind the Abrams in order to take out any resistance that would try to get a back-shot of them. They employed that to an extent in 73 Eastings. |

No flank protection and Iraqis are adapting to hit and run tactics. Jack |
