Saw a report on MSNBC about Tomahawk shortage. They showed footage from the USS McCain. Anyone know if it's named for Sen. McCain, his father or grandfather? By the way. Thanks for the welcome M21 and sgtgoose1

The USS John McCain is named after both Senator and Former Navy Captain John Sydney McCains father, who accended to CINCPAC durring the Vietnam War, and was also a sub driver durring WWII, and Senator McCains grandfather, Admiral John "Slew" McCain who amongst other acomplishments, earned his Wings of Gold at the young age of 50, and commanded a Task Force under the direct command of Admiral William "Bull" Halsey.........

Senator McCain has a proud family lineage, and if you get a chance...Read his book "Faith of My Fathers" Very good read.

I met McCain in 74 when he went back through Jet refresher training. His hair was all gray and a nice guy.
