in the last months i started reading some books about the vietnam war. i think it is important to read books written by people who really experienced it, to get a better picture. books i read so far: Fast Movers/John Darrell Sherwood Lest we forget/William C. Meacham Taking fire/Ron Alexander Acceptable Loss/Kregg Jorgenson We were Soldiers once...and young/Lt. Gen. Harold G. Moore, J. Galloway what are your favourite books, or which would you recommend to read? |

Colin Powell: My American Journey. I'm about halfway through Shadow Warriors, by Tom Clancy and General Carl Stiner (Ret.) Tracing the SOF from WW2 till the last chapter, titled Tuesday September 11th. "Liberal bastards. I fart in thier general direction" |

Jack Broughton's two books on Nam. Going Downtown and the sequel. Hackworth's books. Sea Wolf, John Buckley of, We Were Expendable Fame ( should be close on title). Some of the FAC books from Nam are very interesting. Arnie Alderholt, Air Commando, or close to it. Claire Chenault, couple of books on him. Jimmy Doolittle has a book or two out. James Horward, only fighter ace in WW2 in the ETO that won a MOH. Think it's Roar of the Tiger. Blindman's Bluff, Sontagg, nice book on our Cold War follies. Aces in Korea, close to it, some really nice chapters on our Aces. I didn't put these in any order for liking them. They just popped out of my mind. Jack |

Wrote several good books on WW2 that gives you a nice overview. We killed more pilots in flight training than in combat in WW2. Mainly because we kept the good mechs and parts in combat zones. It's one of those yin and yang things. Jack |

Charlie Mike is an excellent fictional book about the exploits of the 75th Ranger rgt during the Cambodian invasion. Team Yankee is a good tank book about WWIII in central Europe...both are from the late 80's. "US Army Snipers- One shot, one kill" |
