Hey Dice do you ever recall running accross Ivy McCoy? He spent most of his time in F4's after 68(I think) before that he was in 105's. I know he was stationed at Clark at on point. he would have been a Colonel and about ready to retire in 1983. 1. Don't look conspicuous; it draws fire. 2. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you. |

Just thought I'd ask, He was the JROTC Instructor where KingFrogger and I went to HS. When I read you story and saw you worked as an F4 crew chief I thought I'd ask. 1. Don't look conspicuous; it draws fire. 2. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you. |

Yeah, Ivy McCoy's the guy that scored the 6th kill flying the F-4 that Gen. Ritchie got his 5 in during Vietnam. It's also the same that was decommissioned and now sits on the terazzo (sp?) at the Air Force Academy. I think the tape from that kill's the one they use in one of those "Weekday Wings" or whatever shows on like Discovery sometimes. It's a shot of a Mig taking one up the tailpipe... don't remember the details, though. Maybe Stinger does... "I like the way it fires, but do you have anything louder?" |

its used in the Top Gun also, when the pilots are getting their first briefing and Micheal Ironsides is giving the Kill:loss ratio for Veitnam. the mig is banking at about a 25 degree angle and heading probly 20 degrees right of Col (then Major) McCoy's F4 the sidewinder comes on screen from the left lower side of the screen and proceeds right up the migs A$$. The F4's tail number is 66-463 1. Don't look conspicuous; it draws fire. 2. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you. Edited by - Stinger on May 16 2003 07:47 AM |

Darn! Here I have nothing worth posting. Best I can bring is some stupid civilian brawl. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> But it would have you wondering how the baddies ever managed to previously kill a Desert Storm Vet. "The Prince of Pain wears a crown of stupidity. How ya feeling, your Majesty?" Edited to add: The Super Crew Chiefs are also entertaining. Edited by - Lunatock on May 16 2003 11:28 AM |
