How many Generals are there in the US Armed Forces? How many of each rank? Also, how many Chiefs are there in the JCS and what are there Ranks/Titles?

There are four COS, with one of them holding the title of JCOS. He's the boss.

There is one each from the four branches of the military methinx.

God knows how many generals there are. Whatever the number, it's too many.

As Snipe stated, way too many, and their support staffs are long while being pricey.

Using the Navy around 84. 10 odd 4 Stars, 35 3 Stars, 250 upper and lower half Admirals. Air Force and Army would be similar. Marines run 2 4 Stars. At JCS, besides the 4 branches, you have CJCS and his Vice both 4 Stars. Then you have the CINCs ( whatever the hell Rummy nicked them now), 9-10 of them now. All 4 Star positions are a really sweet gig. I might be including the SpecWar command since he is a 4 Star now.

The old line in the Navy we averaged an Admiral per ship. Works out about right with a 300 ship Navy.

If your part of the JCS your Code moves up to 2.

My numbers should be close till today, because they hate to eliminate any Flag position.

Yes Jack is right 303 Navy Flag officers(some of these are resevists on active duty) on active duty as of 1 March 2003 with about 40 selectees . 98 Marine Generals w/6 selectees. Their are 9 Unified Commands which work closely with the JCOS(Direct line of Command is to SecofDef) which include a seperate JCS/VJCS in addition to the COSs of the Army, Air Force, Marines and the CNO of the USN.

There used to be "General/Flag Officer Worldwide Roster" available since 9/11 this is no longer accessible along with alot of other great info.

Proceedings updates the US Navy, US Marine Corp and US Coast Guard command hiearchy every year in an almanac. Rickover for example was able to hold on to his tyranny long after the manditory retirement age cause most were scared of his clout. Lehman finaly had the sack to "pipe him over the side" early in Reagans first term.

I was a CINC Flag pilot for 5 years or so. I had to know this crap. Didn't want to piss off a Flag rank. Great gig, lots of perdiem, always had parts and excellent mechanics. Talk about service too. I pull up to the red carpet and the base Brass would be out there standing tall and offering us anything they could.

If I needed a 2 bit part, it would be FedXd if need be that night.

One time in Europe we had some big gig for NATO. We had 44 odd stars onboard and about half dozen or more were 4 Stars. If we had crashed would had been lots of promotions.

Chad thats where I got the info(proceedings)I posted. Im a life time member. Also at the defenselink site, in the press release section you can get Flag/General officer announcements(slections) and assignment updates.
And at the Navy, AF and Marine Websites you can get their biographies. The Army had/has this too but I havent come accross it lately. But the "Worldwide Roster" was indispensable for me.

Hard call, I tried scoring no matter what. I can safely say in some NATO countries, Greece and Turkey come to mind, very few chicks around. Now in Guam and Hawaii, very nice odds. Puerto Rico was fun too. Never had to leave the base there.

When it came to chixs, I tried everything.

My orders were awesome at the CINC level. In the Ferry Squadron, I was authorized any mode of transport, always Pri 2, and my controlling authority on the road for perdiem advances. I had a few Chiefs that showed me the ropes for perdiem. One good one still, always carry 20 or 100 buck bills in foreign countries. Get a better exchange rate and then use the lower posted exchange rate on your claim.

Now while your out training in the boonies, the flyboys were bagging your babes.

In one Squadron I planned my RONs for the hot babe spots.

TransPacs were pretty sweet except for the RON at Kwaj. Think they had 5,000 odd guys and 50 girls. Out of there it was either Hono or Guam. Heading East I always spent an extra night in Hono. Either cited crew rest or we had a mech problem. Hono was a very target rich place for tourist babes.

LOL, what do you think happened to the navy wives when the sailors were out to sea? ;)

REMF's had it the best, they banged everyone's girls.
