Here are my possibilities for my first assignment: JSTARS (shoot me please!) AWAcs (shoot me, and then shoot me again if I live through it!) c-17 to charleston c-17 to mcchord c-21 to Andrews c-21 to Ramstein* c-21 to Peterson* c-21 to Scott kc-10 to McGuire* kc-10 to Travis* kc-135 to Grand Forks " to Mcconnell " to MacDill " to Robins " to Fairchild " to Mildenhall* " to Kadena* T-1 FAIP at Vance * indicates high on my list. I won't find out what I'm actually going to get until 22 Aug. I can't wait!!!!!! I can't believe I'm less than 4 weeks from getting my wings now!!!! Grand Forks is a beautiful little city. Easy drive to Fargo (lots to do there), and not to many hours from Minneapolis (LOTS to do there!). The crime rate in GF is so low you wouldn't believe me if I told you. If you get Mildenhall, there is an Airman stationed there that I can ORDER to buy you dinner! Will-do, though Okinawa is a bit different from where I was at, and I've never been to Okinawa. I've found the Okinawans to be a lot more friendly and open, but those were also students here. Basic recommendation: Just be friendly and polite, and it will be returned. Japanese is also an incredibly easy language to learn to speak, so try and pick up some tapes, lesson books, or private instruction before you head out there, if you can, and learn a few of the basic characters to help you find your way around (like streets, restrooms, entrances, etc). BACK THEN THE PHASE HANGAR/T-39 BASE FLT WE'RE NEXT TO THE RF-4'S SECTION PLUS THE F-5 FROM CLARK WERE PARKED THERE TOO. BUT THAT 83-85 TIME FRAME. I THOUGHT THE JAPANESE PEOPLE WERE NICE AND IT WAS FUN. JUST GET READY FOR ALOT OF FLYING OVER WATER FOR HOURS AND HOURS! Congrats! Poke, I spent a few years at Misawa in weasels and 2 years in 15's at kadena. Even met my wife there. There are some great places to Visit over on "THE ROCK" Hope you enjoy your tour there! |
