That stuff sounds like fun.

No doubt.

It gives a very detailed account about the effects High Explosives; it's one of the better articles I've read about the subject.

Other components are even more powerful.
H-6 is a castable binary explosive combining TNT, RDX, aluminum powder, D2 wax and calcium chloride. I don't know if they used it in Baghdad- too powerful.

The Alumium powder used in Tritonal, does it have the same effect, or rather, is it used in other explosives as well?

Yeah, the aluminum powder is used as a stand alone explosive in the BLU-82.

There is an explosive used in the BLU-109 penetrator bombs called AFX-708. I think it's a different blend to compensate for the reduced payload weight.

So, would that make a container of Aluminium Powder dangerous, all by itself? No particular reason for asking...Just curious.

I'm no weapons specialist or chemical engineer or any other "official" reference on the subject, 2drezq, but I would assume that it's not, seeing as how there's no source for combustion or ignition.

Getting said container next to, say, a gasoline can... well, then you might start questioning your organizational skills.

Although, I could be wrong entirely... the aluminum powder could very well be dangerous enough stand-alone. I'm just thinking back to high school chemistry where we used aluminum strips for something with a Bunsen burner involved. Gave off a very bright and colorful flame.

Hmmm...

Okay, disregard all the above commenting. Wait for someone that knows what the hell they're talking about to answer. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>
