It's because of people like your grandfather(and both of mine i am proud to say), that we are free today.

Thanx to granddad's the country over for our freedom!

Something tells me your grandfather would not be ready to run home with his tail between his legs after 6 months of war and only 250 casualties. That generation understood freedom has a price.

Thats pretty special to be able to say that about your Grandad. Two years ago I took a trip to washington DC. In front of the White House there is a large monument to the Big red One from the 1st Expeditionary Force in WWI. I knew my great grandfather, and my namesake, was killed in France in WWI and that his mortal remains are still there. But I was almost overcome with pride when I found his name, my name, in large capital letters in the brass plack on the side of that monument. When I couple that with my studies of WWI a gain a great appreciation for what the men and women of the armed forces went through. Kinda gives me a warm fuzzy inside to be honest..............

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

My Grandfather, Andrew Linkens. Fit's the description. Helped carve up Hitler's dream with the rest of the U.S. Army in the ETO.

As mine too, Joseph prinzinger, he got to spend time in a german POW camp. was captured at the battle of the bulge, and shot in the hand. They feed him only soup, that they would occasionaly throw a carrot in. And the only reasion they feed him and his group was because he was an officer.

Just for the record, my grandfathers that served in WWII were Earl Clarke(3rd Army under Patton) and George O'brien(USAAF 8th AF).

My greatgrandfather, Harry Clarke, fought in WWI, in the HORSE CAVALRY!!!

Dad was a sailor that spent more than his fair share of time on Yankee station off the coast of Vietnam on Destroyers.

I of course elected to skip the military, and instead become a ballerina....

Have to look up his service record. but I can remember off that bat.

That Circa the 1940's. My grandfather was kind of a pioneer. In having almost his entire body covered with tattoo's.

Don't suppose there are any sites that'll allow someone to look up thier Grandfathers Service record?

Suffice it to say, he did kick ass more than any of the Nazi's that crossed his path.

I do recall that he did get grief for "being married to a Kraut". My Grandmother of course.
