Say what you will about Drudge but he usually get the dirt. If this is true Clark really does the way the wind blows.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU SEPT 25, 2003 16:05:37 ET XXXXX

GENERAL CLARK PRAISED CONDI, POWELL, RUMSFELD AND BUSH: 'WE NEED THEM THERE'

**World Exclusive**

Democratic presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark offered lavish praise for the Bush Administration and its key players in a speech to Republicans -- just two years ago, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal!

MORE

During extended remarks delivered at the Pulaski County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 11, 2001, General Clark declared: "And I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Paul O'Neill - people I know very well - our president George W. Bush. We need them there."

MORE

Clark praised Reagan for improving the military:

"We were really helped when President Ronald Reagan came in. I remember non-commissioned officers who were going to retire and they re-enlisted because they believed in President Reagan."

Clark continued: "That's the kind of President Ronald Reagan was. He helped our country win the Cold War. He put it behind us in a way no one ever believed would be possible. He was truly a great American leader. And those of us in the Armed Forces loved him, respected him, and tremendously admired him for his great leadership."

Clark on President George Bush: "President George Bush had the courage and the vision... and we will always be grateful to President George Bush for that tremendous leadership and statesmanship."

Clark on American military involvement overseas:

"Do you ever ask why it is that these people in these other countries can't solve their own problems without the United States sending its troops over there? And do you ever ask why it is the Europeans, the people that make the Mercedes and the BMW's that got so much money can't put some of that money in their own defense programs and they need us to do their defense for them?"

"And I'll tell you what I've learned from Europe is that are a lot of people out in the world who really, really love and admire the United States. Don't you ever believe it when you hear foreign leaders making nasty comments about us. That's them playing to their domestic politics as they misread it. Because when you talk to the people out there, they love us. They love our values. They love what we stand for in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights."

Impacting...

It's true. He made them in May of 2001. But a hell of a lot has changed because of 9/11 (War, Patriot Act, More Tax Cuts in the face of splurging spending).

Tax cuts i believe in the long run generate more revenue then the original higher tax rates would have done if left alone.

Apparently, only conservatives can grasp this concept...

"If we are not victorious, let no man return alive."

If I spend more they get more from sales tax that one should be simple.

Overkill??? I'd kill a fly with a howitzer if I had one.

Bush cut taxes but he lacked the will to control spending. The government has only grown with new agencies and he's been supportive of, or at least complicit in, many spending program like the Farm Bill and Prescription Drugs. Iraq and Afghanistan are going to cost hundreds of billions.

Result: $500b deficits forever

We live in the greatest country in the history of this planet. health issues aside...if you can't make your way in America, you have to look at yourself and see if your trying hard enough. If you work hard and smart...then the sky is the limit. I did say health issues aside, and thats where we lack is in health care.

In Europe you are branded a sheet metal worker when you are about 15, and you have little or no choice of backtracking and making something else out of yourself. (There is not a damn thing wrong being a sheet metal worker if you are happy btw...I was just using that vocation as an example)

In American you can become anything you want to become if you are willing to work..thats what is so great about this country.

So yeah..tax cuts give us the means to do what we want with our hard earned money, vice paying somone else to spend it for us. I am all in the favor of tax cuts.

Chad:

First, some people work extremely hard but their circumstances will never allow them to rise about low-income. People have this magical idea that ANYONE who works hard will make it. Thus, all poor are just lazy. Not true. For some sure, that's true. However, you'll find people who can't.

There was a story of a lady who sat on a bus three hours every day to go to work for a minimum wage job because that was the only job available. Is she lazy?

Maybe those people can carve out enough for food and a livable home. But most won't rise much above where they are.

Second, as far as tax cuts, I'm fine with them during economic hard times like we're in/were in, though not to the extent Bush did. But when we're at war and the President won't hold the line on spending, thus the result is soaring deficits that will be "paid for" in future years, so given that, I don't support them.

Yes, there are always examples....But life isnt fair. We all have our demons to overcome...Some more than others. But nowhere in this world is there a country that rewards hard work like the United States does. I also said you have to work hard and smart....

Health issues are a huge stumbling block, as well as being born into poverty. But you can always do what you want to do if you set your mind to it, and are realistic about your capabilities. Look at Genral Colin Powell..he wasn't exactly born with a silver spoon in his mouth. There was a point that afirmative action was necessary, but I honeslty feel that the playing field is as level as it is going to be. WE all have a chance to make our mark....Its just up to us.

Thats what I love so much about this great country of ours.

Well I don't disagree about this being the greatest country in the world. It is. I sure as hell hate the socialist systems in Europe.

I'm just saying we need safety nets to maintain livable conditions (basic food and housing; emergency medical) for the disadvantaged, some of whom just have bad luck and circumstances.

The one positive is they did reform Welfare in the 90's to get help reduce those Welfare Queens, lazy whores living large of taxpayer money and turning out kids not to raise them well or give them a good life, but just get more money from Uncle Sam. To me those whores are as bad as parents who abuse their children and committ fraud.

I do not follow this topic anywhere near as closely as I should. I was told today that NO funding is being allocated to infrastructure. If that is correct, it will have a five year trickle down effect that WILL cause a recession. In my opinion, that part of the budget is second only to defense.

Get a bigger hammer

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU VIPER,
AROUND HERE EVERYTHING HAS GONE BELLY-UP! JOBS BEING SENT OVERSEAS AND ALOT OF NON-US WORKERS COMMING IN WORKING FOR SQUAT!

GIVE YOU A PRIME EXAMPLE---

EAGLE FOODS,BIG GROCERY STORE CHAIN WENT BANKRUPT,THIS HAPPENED TO BE THE ONLY BIG STORE WITH IN 45 MILES TO BUY FOOD. THEIR IS TINY MOM AND POP BUT THAT IT.
ANOTHER GROUP BOUGHT THE STORE FROM THE COURT. THEY PROMISED GOOD WAGES ETC.. PLUS MORE CHOICES LESS MONEY.
THE EAGLES WAS UNION,THE WORKERS AVERAGED ABOUT 13.00 AN HOUR GIVE OR TAKE WITH YEARS. PLUS VACTAION AND MEDICAL PAID. ABOUT 70 FULL TIME AND 40 PART TIME.
THE NEW OWNERS TOLD THE WORKERS,40 FULL TIME 30 PARTTIME NO MEDICAL AND EVERYONE WORKS FOR 6.00 AN HOUR.
PLUS THEY WOULDNT HIRE MOST OF THE OLD EMPLOYEE'S EITHER BECAUSE OF THE UNION THREAT.
SO NOW YOU HAVE A STORE,PAYING HALF THE WAGES,HALF THE STUFF,PLUS ANOTHER 15% PRICE HIKE.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN THE US TODAY,OR IN MY PART OF THE MIDWEST.
LOWER WAGES,BENEFITS LOST,HIGHER PRICES YOU CANT DIG OUT OF THE HOLE,PLUS THE NATION POVERTY RATE HAS GROWN IN THE LAST YEAR.

SO WHEN I HEAR TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT,IS SEE A HOLE WITH THE FUNDS GOING RIGHT THRU IT INTO SOMEONES POCKET OR ANOTHER COUNTRY BY PASSING JOE AMERICAN.

JUST MY THOUGHT

PRESS TO TEST
