Have mainly seen this with upper echelon brass in the state Guard units. State Adjunctant General being the most notable appointee of the Governor, with lower leadership (O-5/6), more than likely his "good ole boys".

What about "Enhanced Ready Brigades"? I assume they are well maintained, with problems this person describes mainly manifested in the standard readiness brigades and divisions?

quote:
U.S. Army’s Ready Reserve Force doesn’t need to be concerned about the bottom line as long as we taxpayers have deep pockets. An estimated 60,000 of the 205,000 soldiers on their books can’t deploy to combat zones because of medical problems – and an alarming number of these non-deployables are either wacko, overweight or otherwise physically not up for the fighting game.

Sweet! Sign me the hell up..I am so there dude!!!!

OK,I UNDERSTAND READINESS ETC......,BUT COME ON IF A PERSON IS OVERWEIGHT DOESNT MAKE YOU UNDEPLOYABLE! MAYBE GOING ON A PLUSH TDY OR SCHOOL BUT NOT TO A HOSTILE FIRE ZONE!

HOW MUCH ARE SOME OF THEM OVER? I WAS 11 POUNDS OVER AND WASNT THE ONLY ONE.
BUT GOING TO THE SANDBOX WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM CAME BACK ALMOST 40 PUNDS LIGHTER AND BETTER SHAPE!

HELL WHEN THEY FOUND OUT WE WERE GOING THE FATBOY PROGRAM WENT BYE-BYE!

SO NOW I GUESS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP FROM GOING TO IRAQ,GET FAT!

BUT ON THE SAME TOPIC,WE HAD ALOT OF HEALTHY FOLKS ALL THE SUDDEN GET "SICK" AND SKIPPED OUT. BUT SOME WANTED TO GO BUT GOT SICK! AND THEY WOULDNT LET THEM GO.

That really all depends Goose. Maybe it doesn't for a crew dog, but for a grunt, Combat Engineer, MP, scout or tanker, it matters LOTS.

MY POINT IS SNIPE,THEY SEE THESE FOLKS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH.IF THEY DONT LOOK FAT,THEN THEIR NOT!
OR IS THIS ANOTHER CASE OF,THE GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB?

10LBS IS JUST A GOOD,TRIP TO THE BATHROOM,OVER 20LBS I WOULD HAVE A MD DECIDED.
I'VE SEEN ALOT OF "FAT" FOLKS WHO COULD OUT LAST AND OUT DO SOMEONE WHO WAS BY THE WMP "FIT"

WEIGHT SHOULDNT BE A FACTOR,IF YOUR TOO FAT FOR THE JOBS YOU SAID SNIPE,THEN THE ARMY HAS ALOT OF TRUCKS TO DRIVE

I agree Goose, if you are showing up for drill and overweight it is the responsibility of the chain of command to order some remedial PT to get you 'streamlined'.

Hell, they wouldn't even need to go that far.

Just announce to the platoon that the "following troops have been deemed 'ineligible for combat' due to their being out of shape". I guarantee their fellow comrades will get the "remedial PT" taken care of on their own...
