[size=4][/size= I was thinking that i might do something different next year. I get tired of working on this old house all the time. So I have decided that in the spring I am going to build a trebouchet. I love seige warfare and medieval history anyway and I thought this may be a cool thing to do with the boys. If worse comes to worse I can laye seige to Palmer's town hall if they threaten to raise my water bill again. Any thoughts ? By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson |

Hawg, My medieval history is a bit ropey, but didn't they use these things to fling rotten diseased cow carcasses over the city walls they were laying siege to hoping to spread diseases? Not wanting to give you any ideas as to what to do to town hall or any thing... "A .44 magnum beats 4 Aces everytime..." |

Also, when the cows ran a bit short they'd fling human corpses, sometimes pierced with broken bits of sword and metal (for added dramatic effect as well as hopes of the off-chance of skewering someone on the way down). It was a bit of a "crap shoot," but seeing your dead cousin flying through the air back at you would probably have some crazy devastating psychological effects... poor bastards... Would've been funny as hell to watch though. “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.” Benjamin Franklin, 1759 |

As much as we laugh when read stuff like that in our history books, you realy have to admit that a flaming cow would be a spectacular sight at 200 ft agl doing 100kts. By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson |
