Are they "legal" in combat? I just heard about their use in Vietnam a little while ago and it seems like it would be one of those things that would be against the Geneva Convention. I mean, if you can't fire a .50 at personnel, how can you take a 106mm recoiless rifle and just go to town? ~Thud |

Yeah, they receontly introduced 120mm Beehive aka cannister rounds for the M-1 Abrams. Haji no like bee-hive. PS- the .50BMG vs people= illegal is a myth. It is perfectly legal to shoot personnel with a .50(think about it dude, you shoot them with a 30mm!!!) "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction" Ronald Reagan |

.50, as I recall, is the biggest cartridge that can be used directly on personnel, Something like that. A beehive would be considered an antipersonnel weapon. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

Snipe is right, the .50 cal v. personnel being illegal is a myth, you can use just about anything on personnel. Marge: There's someone here who I think can help you. Homer: Who, Batman? Marge: No he's a scientist. Homer: Batman's a scientist? Marge: It's not Batman! |

During ODS Timothy McViegh won notoriety for shooting an Iraqi in the head at 1500 meters with a single round of 25mm. As i've stated before the 20mm Vulcam M-162A3 PIVADS was awesome in MOUT scenarios where armor was needed. There are no real practical constraints to the ordnance used once the steel starts flying. Now canister in a chain gun, that sounds interesting. They made a canister round for the M79. Would that one work, or is there one like it, for the Mk19? "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

No prob thud. ![]() There used to be a 40mm buckshot round, and yes...that is compatible with the Mk19 40mm AGL. Whether or not they still use them i couldn't tell you. HE in the Mk19 is pretty hard to beat. the 40mm HEDP has a lethal radius of 'approxomately' 5 meters. "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction" Ronald Reagan |

Something I could see is that the canister would be usable at closer ranges, though if you have that kind of range, you might want to be running. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

No running. You just call the air in closer and grab some dirt. ![]() "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction" Ronald Reagan |
