Sensor range is limited to how far away you can reliably track an enemy's movements. If you can't be sure your weapons will be in the vicinity of the target when they get there, you can't engage. Unless a different mechanism than radar/lidar/etc. is used, your weapons ranges will always exceed the sensor range. If you can see them, you can engage. This is because active lightspeed sensors(the more accurate ones, theoretically) would require time to send out the scanning pulse, and then wait for returns, whereas your weapons' discharges only have to go one way. About one hundred thousand miles(a little more than half of a lightsecond) is maximum lightspeed sensor range. Conversely, about twice that would be maximum energy weapon range, assuming that the distance doesn't diminish the weapon's effectiveness. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

Star furries, hmmmm. Any cute vixens available? You will be kept up all night by soemthing banging on the wall. I'm somewhat serious though. I know there's a few people on here that understand a bit of what I'm talking about, though air-to-air may be a less than ideal comparison. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |
