We should of invaded that Country when the Drug Dealing Mexican Military was crossing our border and killing DEA and Border patrol agents.

This is the hole reason for JTF6.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> Arrangements originally were made to give a traditional 21-gun salute during the ceremony in Lopez's hometown in Mexico. But Mexico's secretary of Defense turned down the request last week, saying the salute violated constitutional measures preventing foreign soldiers from bearing arms on Mexican soil. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

This is a political statement by the Mexican govt. at the expense of the Lopez family. The gun salute is an important, and unforgettable, part of the ceremony. I feel sad that they were deprived of that memory. It would have been easy for the Mexican govt. to make a decision to quietly waive the "foreign soldiers bearing arms" law due to the solemn and ceremonial nature of this specific occasion. It was meant to be an insult to the USA. They can't resist an opportunity to settle old scores and gain local political points. As a result, they have missed an opportunity for some good will. It's amazing the Marines involved kept their cool. International politics sucks.

They could just have the ceremony at the US Embassy in Mexico. Our Marines there pack heat. ;)

I think it's time to end trade with that failed excuse for a government and set up a real border. After we take baja of course.

Apparently the Marines at the embassy should be prepared to use their weapons in their own defense. It seems Mexico is indicating they are inclined to be contrary to US policy. What are they up to?

Maybe its time to do away with honoring our word in the Monroe Doctrine, and do as we will...Mexico is nothing but a security and quality of life compromise for the people of the United States. If they cannot govern themselves in a manor befitting a bookend on our southern frontier, then perhaps we should set up shop and do it ourselves. After all that would be inline with our "lean foward" posture. I can see it now...Cheech Martin radicals annouce an "el fatwa" against the USA. The weapon of choice is a 1976 Monte Carlo with hydraulics...

Too bad the shithole they live on wasn't worth the effort to take from them when we took Texas. I give those Marines credit for not crushing a few of their grapes on the way back to the embassy. Maybe we should make the Rio Grande canal and just cut them off completely. We could screw Panama in the deal too!
