I WAS WATCHING THE REPORTS ON THIS AND THERE'S ALWAYS BEEN A BIG PROBLEM OVER HOW MANY AGENTS CAN ACCOMPANY THE PRESIDENT AT THESE CONFERANCES. OTHER NATIONAL LEADERS HAVE ONE AMOUNT AND THE PRES HAS MORE. I DONT THINK THE SEC SERVICE WANTS DOZENS OF "GUARDS " WHEN OTHER LEADERS COME HERE TO VISIT EITHER. IF YOU NEED THAT MUCH PROTECTION,THEN STAY HOME. THIS LIKE THEY USE TO TELL US,"YOUR NOT IN THE US YOU FOLLOW THEIR RULES AND CUSTOMS" YOUR A VISITOR. BUT I WOULD SAY ANYTHING SOUTH OF TEXAS AINT REALLY SAFE FOR ANY AMERICAN. MONEY TALKS,B.S. JUST PILES UP. |

well goose here is where you and I disagree again. When your the president of the US the biggest donor nation, leader of free world (insense of being last super power) and trading partner there (wether your BUSH or NOT)your the biggest target and should have security befitting that station. As for Chile had something happened to the president could you imagin the economic, political, and potentially military consequences. We have never had a president assasinated or harmed over seas, so one does not know what would happen. But I would suspect it would involve more than a few cruze missles. |

i agree that is why I started this post to see who would notice that he came back also. Did not want to be accused of turning this into a rawraw post. But while I truly admire his willingness to confront trouble, I hope the secret service will encourage him to avoid this in the future for safety sake. I do however wonder if he goes shooting like Reagan did with his secret service staff. |

i give up no matter what I post you have problem. I said I disagree with you on number of agents and how it should be looked at. That is all. I firmly believe that yes by stature and economy the Chile president is not on the same threat level or playing field. We live in a world of realities that do mean everything is fair. Let Chile develop their economy and importance to the world, then when the comensorate level of threat occurs let them protect their president in that manner. Chile's president could get shot tomorrow the world would mourn. Bush or any other president gets assinated the world will mourn, markets will reel back hundreds or thousands of points (911 over again), and the potential for major wars to occur as a result is possible. I did not even make this political to begin with, I was going to praise Bush for going back for his man with the original post but knew you would jump my shit for it so I post a link only. I was being a political and politically correct to not offend you. I have been censored because I post a half harted and yes political comment about smoking a photograph that you took offense to. I am tired of walking on egg shells many people post many things here in the general some offensive to my sensibilities I move on. I have never said I was smarter than and while I dont agree with you on politics I do respect you and your right believe what you believe. As it is my right to believe as I do. I am not advocating reeducation camps or anything of the sort for you beliefs as such I dont understand your hostility towards me. |

Sgtgoose, I'm relatively new here, why are you always yelling? You remind me of my DI when I went throught AOCS! What's the story on all the CAPS all the time? As for GWB, the secret service agent was more then just prevented from entering the dinner, he was assaulted physically... <img src="http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/afp/20041121/capt.sge.huv47.211104074335.photo01.photo.default-384x273.jpg" border=0> Look at this image prior to President Bush's intervention. This agent had to battle his way from far outside the door through multiple Chilian security personnel to even get to the doorway for the President to intervene, and look at the other Chilian agent trying to stop the cameras. You can see his Secret Service ID around his neck along with his communication system. It was obvious who he was.
