Subject: One Nation Under God Under God

A college professor, an avowed Atheist, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that there is no God, the expression, "One Nation Under God", was unconstitutional, and further, he was going to prove there is no God. Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin fall. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting."

His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a Marine just released from active duty and newly registered in the class walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him +++ over teacups from his lofty platform. The professor was out cold! At first the students were shocked and babbled in confusion.

The young Marine took a seat in the front row and sat silent. The class fell silent...waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at the young Marine in the front row. When he regained his senses and could speak he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

"God was busy. He sent me."

God Bless America!

Interesting enough, athiesm as a whole is in a decline. One very prominent Athiest in England has abandoned it for intelligent design.

There's a lot of white collar crime in this world, too. Doesn't mean there's no such thing as an honest investment. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Dammit, Snipe, you are <i>not</i> talking your way out of this one; the kids caught you fair and square, so grant them their three wishes and hand over your pot of gold!

I'll agree.
However, don't give communism a free pass either.
2 million here(Cambodia), 50 million there(China), and you're talking about too many catastrophic deaths that were done explicitly <i>not</i> in his name.

Religion in general is decline as well, Furthermore, there are many prominent chrisitans who have converted to aethiesm over the years.

<i>the expression, "One Nation Under God", was unconstitutional</i>

Well he's right 'Congress shall make no law concerning the establishment of a religion...' The american constitution and politicol system is secular. Freedom is the distance between religion and state.

Hmm, sounds pretty anti-elitist tritional. Besides, free speach, he had as much right to say that as you did your comment. Basicly the marine got up and hit him for expressign free speach

The Marine hit him in the mouth because he was God's chosen messenger. :)

The term 'separation of church and state' is one of the most misunderstood terms in US Law.

What it means is that the US Gov't can NOT select an official state religion. That's also ALL it means.

Name one.
And I never said they all changed to christianity. Science has been loading up so much data that it's nearly impossible to say this all happened randomly and that man is not the measure of all things. Anthony Flew, who was the go-to guy for a position on athiesm has all but given up his position.

You bet it's anti-elitist my friend.
Elitism in this case is the act of chosing one single idea and putting down others. That's not what a university was designed for.

And you talk about free speech... in college!!?
Hey Aussie, go to most colleges in the US and say positive things conservative issues. You'll get ridiculed. Why? Because it's only free speech if it's in line with the professors close-minded way of how the world works; the system is hypocrisy at best.

Do yourself a favor and major in math or science when you get to college: there's less idealism.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Don't want to hear from me?
Here's what an ex-Soviet professor in linquistics said about the US university system:
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>"Unfortunately, _true_ academic freedom, freedom to adhere to a scholarly theory of one's own choice, is often lacking in American universities, and scholars who do not comply with currently fashionable theories have little chance at a university. This makes an American university somewhat like a Soviet university: in the Soviet Union it is Marxism, in the United States it is, say, a currently obligatory method in linguistics." <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
