Started out as a Bushmaster XM15E2S carbine with an M4 feed ramp upper. The only bushmaster parts remaining are the upper and lower receiver, staked buffer tube and properly torqued barrel (16\" 1:7, chrome lined chamber/bore with polished M4 feed ramps). Every thing else in the gun is a hand picked premium component. (A 14.5\" welded flash hider YHM fluted full profile barrel is still planned, and will be the finishing touch)

Parts list:

*Daniel Defense chrome lined complete BCG with enhanced extractor spring/insert and properly staked gas key.
*Colt H2 heavy buffer
*Wolff increased power buffer spring
*Chip McCormick 3lb single stage sealed trigger group.
*Hogue overmolded grip and freefloated handguard
*Hogue matched gas tube
*YHM single rail gas block w. bayonet lug
*YHM flash suppressor w. skullcrusher
*Magpul BAD lever

Sighting systems:

Gas block rail mounted Viridian C5L combo 100 lumen light w. strobe feature/5mw 632nm day green laser. This is possibly the best laser/light combo on the market today. Really top end kit.

Flat top mounted Walther PS55 red dot sight. (I'm going to go with a Nikon AR 2x8x32mm w/BDC)

I keep the weapon loaded with 5.56mm pressure 77gr OTM (SOCOM Mk262 Mod1) in a Pmag with maglevel window. These rounds were developed for the Mk12 AR SDM rifle, and have proven to be extremely devastating in actual combat in several conflicts, nearly matching the wound profile of the 6.8mm SPC, while actually exceeding the wound profile of 7.62 NATO M80 ball.

This weapon shoots extremely smooth with the H2 buffer and extra strength buffer springs. With the laser/strobe combo, it is devastatingly effective at CQB ranges, while still maintining a good medium range capability with the red dot sight.

I kept all the original Bushmaster parts so i have almost en entire extra rifle in case i need emergency spares in a crisis situation.

Nice build Snipe! I love the overall look of it. So often these days, people really over do the picatinny rail thing. I like yours, just a flat top and a short section on the gas block. About the only thing I'd do different would be to add a short rail to the 6 o'clock forward of the hand guard, and mount the C5 light/laser there, and open the top of the gas block for a BUIS. However, the light/laser is probably a little better protected from damage where you have it, and with the laser in operation, you could get by without BUIS's.

Overall a great clean look.

Thanks! I can't stand the overly railed look either.

I went with the C5L where i did because i can easily and quickly activate/deactivate it with the thumb of my off hand without adjusting my grip on the weapon. Also, with the light closer to the muzzle, it is less obstructed by the weapon.

I think that with two dual redundant sights the odds of them ever both going out at once are almost nothing, but even if that happened, just aiming \"through the tube\" of the red dot, even if the glass is shattered, still gets you pretty darn close at ranges out to about 15 yards.

Should be sufficient, given real world home defense ranges.

@Heather: I'm working on it! :D
