This past weekend I talked Jo, my wife, into going back out to the range to work a little more with her new Smith.

Her first time out with it, she did really well, but it included no holster work.

These were all shot from about 5 yards.

Since then, I've gotten her a small F.A.G. Bag, (Fast Action Gun, a small fanny pack with a tear away pouch that reveils a hidden compartment for a small handgun). I'd also picked up a small pocket holster and a Blackhawk Sherpa hip holster. The Blackhawk was a total fail. She kept forgetting to push the button and had a really hard time finding the holster to get the gun back in. After about an hour of working with it she said, \"it's just too complicated. Can't you find one that you just pull the pistol from it?\" So, I'll have to see if I can't find a Fobus paddle holster for her.

So we worked with the FAG Bag and pocket holsters again from about 5 yards, pulling 1 and 2 shot drills. She drew, fired, scanned, checked her 6, and recovered. Granted, not fast, but it was smooth by the end of the day, and no safety issues, like keeping her finger on the trigger, or swinging to gun too far around. She needs a little more work, and to start working on speed, but she'll get there.

NO, no pics of Jo on the range. I took her picture once before, for posting on line, while she was in the kitchen. Doc say's that had that knife hit an inch to the left, I'd have been a gonner for sure.

Thanks Race. I have to admit that when she first decided on a Double Action Only, (DAO), revolver, I did my best to talk her out of it. Being DAO, I felt it had a distinct disadvantage, as it gave a long and hard trigger pull vs. an auto or a single action. I felt that the long pull combined with the short barrel would have added up to very poor accuracy. However, she has, yet again, proven me wrong. It is very accurate within 20 yards or so. Accurate enough that I trust her ability to defend herself against any would be attacker.
