As a collector of diecast(90+) I was surprised at the latest offering from the Franklin Mint. An A-10 from the 343rd Composite Wing, which was never stationed at Kotzebue, that being a FOL. I actually loaded on this jet in 1982, tail number 221 if I recall. The accuracy is horrible. First the plane has two AIM-9's on a LAU-105, neither being there during that time frame. We also didnot have the LAU-117 pictured carrying the AGM-65. Back then it was just the LAU-88 and at a time when all three rails were being used. I think at what these models cost, the company should take a little more time researching the subject. It also implies that this was a permament paint scheme, when actually it was whitewash that never completely came off. I also can not recall our jets using ECM pods. I left in September of 1983 after 18 months on the A-10. I would be interested in hearing from others including collectors. Thank you, Al.

I think they need some help in the research depart, or they just don't care about the accuracy which is sad. I would try contacting them, I would think these are good collector items, and the one's who are collecting them are the one's who know all the background on them.

I also wish they would do more of the modern units. The 2 Demo teams with would look sharp IMO.

I had written them, with no reply. They also had introduced a F-15 from the 318th FIS claiming it was from the 419th TFW, which never managed the 318th FIS. Seems like they are just re-decalling the same old models.

That sounds like FM they have done a number of things wrong with their planes. They do need to do better in researching these planes before they are released to the public.

Have you seen their new Raptor model, freaken missles are hanging on pylons under the wings.

yet they post this on the FM site for this model

it’s packed with true-to-life detail that will stand up to the closet inspection. You’ll enjoy pointing out such features as the full array of bombs and missiles, the landing gear and instrumented cockpit.

Last I knew they have pylons to go on the wings, but they'll probably never use them since it kills the stealth.

I've seen travel tanks hanging, but like you mentioned it would kill their stealth if they hung weapons underneath.
